850 Diesel intermitant throttle

Hi...... I've had my 850 diesel for the last 2.5 years and it's never missed a beat !!- however over the last few weeks I've noticed that the engine drops onto tick over when driving as if there's no throttle signal. If I hold the throttle pedal in position it sometimes comes back and accelerates however the quickest solution is to take my foot off the pedal and re-apply the throttle. It's getting progressively worse to the point where the car is becoming undriveable. Could it be the throttle position sensor ?? Does a diesel even have such a thing ??

Sept 2008

I have had all kinds of problems with Throttle modules (ETM), bucking, hesitating, speeding up! I almost died recently when the car refused to accelerate out of the way of a big semi. Paid dearly for repairs in the past (flash software, cleaning, replacement) only to have the symptoms re-appear! Volvo dealer service jerks! They said I would have to continue to pay for the problem to be fixed AGAIN! Could care less about us!

Well, well, well! I received a mailing in August 2008 notifying me of a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT that will solve all our problems. Go to the website below and SMILE! Justice is done!!! Some details below...

Includes 1999-2001 all models except s40 & v40, 2002 s60 & s70 non-turbo models, 2002 all c70 models.

Solutions include free repair of this problem AND reimbursement for past expenditures pertaining to this problem.

There is much info in the letter I received, so go on-line ASAP to:

THERE IS A TIME LIMIT, SO GO NOW. DO NOT WAIT!

Hi. I have a problem with my VW Passat. It is 2.0 tdi sport 2006 The engine stopped as I ws driving. About 2 months ago I stupidly run out of diesel before I got yo the garage. Put diesel in it and...

Hi there?
It sounds like the injectors are blocked. the reason i say this is because the bottom of the tank is full of durt and it must have got through when it was low in diesel.
You need to get the car scanned, if the code p1517 comes up then the injectors are block for sure.
Good luck.........

Hi i have a peugeot 405 diesel and the speedo

I had a similar problem with my old peugeot 405 diesel, something electrical was shorting and actually sparking in the engine compartment which in my case the garage fixed very easily. Same symptoms, the speedo flickered at low speeds but stopped at higher speed.

1997 300D sometimes cuts out when brake or indicator is touched.

Next time when it cuts out, check the primary fuel filter.
It should be 1/2 to 3/4 full.
If it's below half then the intank 80 micron filter screen filter can be clogged.
Are you using bio-diesel or bio-diesel blend?
In general, change the in-tank,primary and secondary filters will fix the problem.

2001 diesel smell

I would check the color of the diesel in the fuel tank first. Siphon a small sample out into a clear container. If it has a yellowish apperance to it and is not transparent combined with the fact that you are losing water I would strongly suspect the injector tubes in the cylinder head. The coolant passes around them so when they leak you can get water in the diesel and diesel in the water. That would the most likley cause, the other possibility is a cracked head. The air conditioner does use water at all. It condenses water on the coils from the air and drips down, more so on humid days.
