In order to really troubleshoot correctly, You've got to go through a series of processes of elimination. A Haynes Repair Manual for your Make and Model will help you do just that. I have owned several used cars and there's always something to fix on them on a fairly regular basis. Getting to know your machine is the best long term solution. In order to do that, you need help. A Haynes Manual or your own in residence mechanic will give you many solutions to many things that could go wrong. What you are describing could be a few different things: bad gas, condensation in the gas lines, electrical, wiring problems, etc... We could go several directions and none of them be the right rabbit trail. Each Haynes Repair Manual has a Troubleshooting Section to help you go through, methodically each area that it could be and eliminate what it is not, until you painfully (after much time and sometimes frustration) get to the right thing. Good Luck!

The car could not sense the signal from the sensor that determines engine speed and went into shutdown and limpin. First step is to retrieve the Trouble code and determine what is wrong. Do not drive the car.

Electrical issue

Sounds like a poor connection at the battery or alternator. You need to make sure there is no corrosion or faults in these connections. If there is no fault there then you likely have a ground problem. Find your engine/Chassis ground, make sure it's tight and again free from corrosion and fault. Leaking battery acid can eat wires on the possitive and ground causing issues. Also if the car has been in an accident it could also have damaged or lossened the ground.

01 celica speed sensor may be bad?

This would throw a check engine code and since you are not seeing one, you should have it scanned to see if the check engine light is bad. It could be the transmission control module or the dash assembly.

My 2004 Santa Fe had he check engine light come on several times in the past week. It started to run rough, like it was going to stall, then the check engine light came on. I took it to a mechanic. ...

Probably not a glitch but an possible issue with the crankshaft position sensor intermittently losing its signal to fire the coils. The crank sensor should be ohmed out when the vehicle is warmed up and when it is cold just to verify that it stays with in operating specifications. If it does not then it will need replaced.

1991 Toyota Camry Broken Speedometer

You need to get that engine light checked out to see if its related or not. The fault is either in your speedometer it self, the wiring, or the speed sensor. Testing them is pretty complicated and do to copy right laws i can not post them but if post your email i can send them to you if you wish.
