Replace housing, thermostat & gasket & coolant. A broken housing is the same as having a blown hose, no pressure. Fix it right and soon, Chrysler products do not react to overheating well and can get expensive to fix the longer you let it go.

I have a 318 se auto it gets warb in a matter of

Fill the system up with water and coolant, including the radiator, BMW has a PRESSURIZED cooling system, as the vehicle warms up have your heat on in the car full blast, there should be a bleeder screw either by the expansion tank by the radiator or by the thermostat housing. Sounds like you have either some air bubbles in the system or if you let it overheat its possible you blew the head gasket. Hopefully not, as you let it heat up crack the bleeder screw open (carefully, a little at a time) until you start to get heat in the car usually this happens around the mid point of the temperature reading on the gauge in the car, sometimes it will take longer, like in your case since you dont have a thermostat in it, (which you should), it will take a lot longer. If the car heats up almost to red line shut it down there is something wrong or you dont have the air bubbles out yet.

Where is the themostat on 1989 chevy g10 van. The heater is not working very well

Hello Grewder.
If you follow the large hose on the top of the radiator to the other end on the engine, you will find it under the housing the hose is attached to.
Two bolts to remove the housing, don't do it hot or under pressure.
Drain a gallon or so out of the rad to minimize spilling.
Clean the gasket surfaces and replace the thermostat and gasket.
Make sure you keep the thermostat in the groove before tightening the bolts. If it moves out you will crack the housing.
I hope your repair goes well for you.

It is over heating and i can't find the temperatre gauge under the hood...

first of all check the radiator for leak or blockage. make sure the coolant is fresh. follow th eupper radiator hosr to the emgine block. there should be 3 bolts attached the themostat housing. take the themostat out and put it with hot water, maks sure the opens. the temperture sending unit should be directly under the themostat. msot likely the themostat is cause or the problem. unless the temperture gage is not reading correctly.

1999 Acura Themostat

just below and behind distributor assy. At the end of the radiator hose.there is two 10mm bolts which attach housing to head. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, REPLACE ONLY WITH A O.E.M (FACTORY) THERMOSTAT AND GASKET! IF YOU DONT YOU WILL BE DOING ONE AGAIN SOON TRUST ME! And dont forget to bleed air from cooling system as you add coolant(by cracking open bleeder valve by thermostat housing) good luck!
