Question about 2006 GMC Sierra

1 Answer

I have a 2006 GMC Sierra. The heat/defrost blower fan stays on when the ignition is turned off. The only way to stop it is to pull the fuse.

Sounds like the blower switch is shorted. Try running through the blower speeds to see if that changes anything.

The fan for heating and cooling suddenly quit on my 2006 GMC Sierra 1500. Could it be a fuse?

Yes it could be a fuse, or the blower motor, or the control on the dash.

BLOWER FAN WILL NOT SHUT OFF EVEN WHEN TRUCK TURNED OFF

Sounds like the blower control module. Alo inpect the multi wire plug, they sometimes get damaged from the heat. The module and plug should be in the immediate vicinity of the blower motor, generally behind or below the glove box

Blower stopped working on the heat in my 1996 GMC Sierra. was working just fine and then just stopped.

Check under your hood and there should be fuses one should say blower fan or something of that sort. I use a chimeing voltometer to check my fuses. If there is a chime then it is good you can also use the old fashion light up fuse checker. Hoe this hellps

GMC 2004 Envoy blows heat even with blower off ... Why ?

The relay in your blower motor is stuck on, there is a TSB for this issue. Replace the blower motor resistor and you'll be back in business.
How does the resistor get power if the fuse is pulled?
Replacing the resistor will cure both problems. TSB is a technical service bullitin seen below

The heater / ac in my 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD has gone out several times. It has always been corrected by replacing the resistor. Replacing the resistor did not work this time. I have checked the fuses...

You have replaced the resistor and the blowwer is good and the fuses are good then i would say its in the switch or power to the switch, maybe at the ignition switch there a bad wire . sometimes the power wire going from ignition switch heats up and causes a bad connection, if you pull connector off the switch make sure the connector to ignition switch is not melted or burnt and also check blower control for the same, i would say that your blower is bad and drawing to much current if you have replaced a few resistors, i think maybe theres a fuse under the hood in the fuse /relay box that may be out or the connection at the switch or ignition is melted. hope this helps.

My 2006 gmc sierra defrost blower doesn't work I checked the fuses any ideas

Make sure you check fuses with a test light or ohmmeter, because just looking at them is not good enough sometimes.
Have you tried high speed, because the lower speeds use resistor packs that can burn out. They are between the switch and motor, usually in the air box. While there, you will be able to see if the switch is bad, if a test light shows anything. If there is power right at the fan motor, and ground, and it still does not work, it has to be the motor itself. But hope not, because hard to get to.

Air conditioning blower stays on at all times.

Per your description, I believe you may have a blower fan relay that is stuck closed.
Remove the relay from the under-hood fuse center and see if the fan stops.
If it does stop, put the relay in slowly and see if you here the relay "click" and the fan come back on.
Let me know.
