SOURCE: I've got a 2003 volkswagen

Your Volkswagen has a known problem with the radio - many people have a similar issue. There is a problem is the antenna base, which corrodes due to weather exposure, and leads to poor/intermittent radio reception. The solution is replacement of the antenna base - a job that can be done by home mechanics (the parts cost under $20), or by a mechanic.

However, the fact that you are also having problems with the CD might hint a larger problems with your stereo system. Have you tried different CDs in the deck? Try with a few different unscratched, store bought CDs (ie, not CD-Rs) and see if you can isolate the problem to the radio.

Wiring layout 2006 vw golf 2.0 tdi

Tony, searched the net. and posted links of what I found, passenger compartment fuse box fuse #17, 5 amp audio/radio
under hood fuse box/relay center #F19, 15 amp. and #F50, 40 Amp.
While googling did notice fuse locations may differ, if you have a test light, just simple, check all the fuses.
Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Where is the fuse box in a 2003 golf?

Hello,

The fuse box of the 2003 volkswagen golf is located under the driver side dash board. Far left side, the panel drops down, it is right above the hood latch. Turn off the engine whenever You want to check or replace the any fuse, then You also remove the left terminal head from the battery head before You check for any blown fuse.

Hope this helped. Thank You for using FixYa!!!

My radio is dead after a battery change, could it be the fuse and i cant tell the smbol on the fuse card if it is

I have exactly the same problem. Just changed battery today on 2002 VW Golf TDI, and the radio is completely dead. Checked the fuse - looks fine. (Fuse 42 incidentally. Fuses are on the side of the driver's dash facing the door ie. only accessible once the door is open). Anyone know why the radio has completely died?
