Question about 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
I would begin with the basics.
Tune up- spark plugs, air and fuel filters, check ignition wires.
A thermostat that opens too soon allows the engine to run too cold. A cold engine needs more fuel so the hotter you can run them the better. Surprising how many of these I find when someone tells me their vehicle is hard on fuel.
Tire pressures are important. Low tires take more energy to roll and **** up fuel like crazy.
Alignment- having all the wheels set up properly will reduce drag as it rolls.
If the check engine light is on, get it checked and repaired. A bad sensor will not give proper fuel air ratios.
Reduce your idle times. Engines use a lot more fuel at idle than you realize. Keep your morning warm up times to a minimum. Scrape the windshield of ice before you start it if you live in a cold climate.
Shut off the vehicle if stuck in traffic for an extended time.
There you are, a few hints. I hope it helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.
