Question about 2003 Chevrolet Malibu

1 Answer

I can not find my manual to my 2003 Chevy malibu and my front right tire is flat. I don't see an obvious lock on the tire, but i can't get it to come off so i can put on the spare. Is there a lock on the tire?

Have a 2009 Malibu, tires are excellent condition. warning light came on "low air right front tire, put air in and week goes by and comes on again, we take it to Sears to check it and also rotate the...

Either someone is letting the air out of your tire or it has a leak. Obviously the shops you have taken it to are incompetent if they can't find a leak. A good shop will submerge the tire and rim in a vat of water and look for air bubbles. If you have alloy rims, occasionally the rim may have "porosity" where the air bleeds out thru the center of the rim between the tire beads. A good rim shop will have sealant that is sprayed or brushed on the rim center to seal it.

What do need (tools) and the process to replace front and rear brakes in a 1998 Chevy Malibu?

Tools: 3/8 drive sockets and ratchet. 4, 6in extensions. 3/8 to 1/2 in adapter and 1/2 in breaker bar, SAE wrench set, hex key set (large) Long big flat screwdriver vise grips, pliers, brake spring tools. Jacks stands and tire equipment. Supplies: New pads, shoes, and brake fluid. Jack up the front and jackstand the car (block the back tires w/ wooden chocks). Remove the front tires. Loosen the caliper assembly bolts and pry the caliper away from the pads. Remove bolts and lift caliper up and out of the way being careful not to damage the lines and keeping the pads matched. Replace in reverse. Do the rear next. Remove tires, drums. Use the brake spring tools to take the shoes off front lining first. Place the springs on the ground neatly (like they looked on the backing plate). Replace in reverse. Start car and give brakes a few pumps and top off reservoir.

What fuel is best for my Chev Malibu, 2003. I live

Standard 87 octane is all that car requires. You will gain no benefit from using mid or top grade fuel.

Most passenger car tires are run between 32 and 35 psi, regardless of season. You can look at the side of the tire to find what the max cold psi pressure is. You will normally find that it is 35psi.

As for summer/winter tires. If the wobble only happens when the snow tires are installed, and not with the summer tires, that obviously eliminates the car as being the problem. Do you have your summer and winter tires mounted on different sets of wheels, or do you swap the tires every season on the same wheels?

If they are on different sets of wheels, then the winter tires are out of balance, have some sort of damage to the carcass of the tires, or you have a bent wheel. If you are using the same wheels and swapping the tires every season, then you need to have your winter tires balanced and see if it solves the problem.

Tire pressure

Seance the car manufactures most likely did not produce the tires that are on the vehicle they will only give there recommendations as to the correct tire pressure. Always look around the perimeter of the tire and it will tell you the proper pressure for that tire. hope this helps. Good luck.

Turn signals work sometimes on 2003 Chevrolet Malibu

There is a problem with the 2003 chevy malibu hazard relay switch that causes the blinkers to work intermittently. On mine, they would work again once I turned the hazards on and then off. I eventually had this repaired at the dealer.

the horn is behind the passenger front fender. right in front of the tire. you need to remove the dust cover to gain access to the horn(s).
the picture was shot from underneath the car. you can not get to the horn(s) any other way.
