Sounds to me that the amplifier for the BOSE stereo system is bad either at the speakers if so equipped, or probably at the radio/cd player itself.

Try to find a replacement from a salvage yard to see if changing out the radio/cd player fixes the problem.

I would say there is an amplifier in the head unit and at the speakers, if it's like the 1990 Cadillac Deville that I own.

It's possible that they changed things around to have the amplifier all in the head unit on the 2006 Cadillac Escalade, rather than having individual amplifiers at each speaker that enhance loudness over the lower level amplification at the head unit found on the 1990 Cadillac Deville Bose system.

This would explain why you don't seem to get any more performance out of the speakers when changing the fade or balance controls, if available.

    Good luck on this repair.

Check with the salvage yard to make sure. They would be able to determine if the speakers have their own built in amplifiers or not at each speaker if they have a 2006 Escalade.

I had a BOSE stereo for one of my Cadillac Devilles modified to have more powerful DELCO amps so that the speakers would play at normal levels without having the speakers each with an amplifier piggy backed on the speaker.

This was done at Dr. Don's out of Texas.

He was very knowledgeable and helpful about DELCO AND BOSE audio systems for Cadillac.

Start with checking fuses and relays. Does the audio system illuminate when you start the vehicle? Chimes go through the vehicle audio system which includes the radio. You may have a factory amp failure which will cause no audio, but the system appears to be on.

2000 oldsmobile bravada factory bose system 4 of six speakers just died

The amp fuse should be in the fuse box in the dash, it is fuse 20 and it should be a 25amp fuse that is clear in color. Although looking at the diagram, all the speakers go through the factory amp. So you may have another issue.

Amp color code wire diagram 2002 tahoe

I just built a factory amplifier/crossover bypass adapter for my 2002 Chevy Tahoe Z71 (non-Bose system) . This adapter will allow the full range of audio directly from your head unit to the door speakers. Without this adapter, the factory amplifier will cut out much of the bass / low frequency audio to the door speakers. This adapter will continue to provide an audio signal to the factory amplifier for the rear factory subwoofer and cargo area pillar speakers.

I have posted an article with complete set of step-by-step instructions and detailed photos of the build and installation process.

http://www.savagehomeautomation.com

The article also includes direct links to the exact parts that I purchased on Amazon to build this bypass adapter.

This is what the end result looks like. It is a 100% non-destructive adapter than can be installed or removed from the Tahoe at any time. It just plugs in between the factory wiring harness and the factory amplifier.7_9_2012_1_38_07_pm.png

Good Luck!

After Market radio install on a 2001 Passat

Metra makes a preamp harness that you can use if you have the partial Bose system. My A4 had that (where the front speakers were run off of the headunit with speaker-level feed, but the deck put a line level signal to a rear amp to power the speakers). This harness would let you use the aftermarket deck with your factory speakers, if you have the partial Bose system. Best bet is to do a Google search for "Metra 2001 Passat" or something like that and I'm sure it'll show up.

Bose audio system error codes 31,33,30?

The trunk mounted 12 disc magazine changer with the Bose audio system is made by Pioneer. Mine is a bit flaky too so I try to avoid unnecessarily swapping out the CD's. Those error codes can mean anything from a defective/wrong disc type (it does not support MP3 discs), a disc being upside down, or forgetting to close the magazine loading door. It can also indicate condensation on the laser lens or a system malfunction. There may be a list of error codes in the owner's manual if you have one, I currently don't.

Assuming you have checked all of the possible human errors above, there are aftermarket sellers that claim you can adapt an aftermarket changer to the Bose system albeit with with inferior sound quality to the original system. Bose is typically well-known for it's audio quality. That being said, the other option would be to seek a repair facility that can repair these changers. There are some places on-line that repair car audio that also might be able to help.

A cheaper workaround might be to hook up a portable CD/MP3 player using a cassette adapter. Assuming the cassette player, amp and speakers are good, you would possibly still get fairly high quality sound from the Bose system.

Best of Luck!
