SOURCE: trying to read error codes 98 pont/sunfire 2.2l

You can't read the codes this way on 95 and newer cars and light trucks (OBD 2 system), you will have to either go to a Kragen auto where they will do it for free or buy a cheap code reader for about $30-40.

2000 Pontiac sunfire 2.2 got code 1137. How do I fix. Car won't start. I changed o2 sensor.

The 1137 OBD2 code is typically an o2 sensor problem as you have indicated, first I would make sure your replacing the correct o2 sensor as there are two (upstream and downstream), although it is possible that a bad o2 sensor could keep your engines fuel injection system from delivering the fuel to your engine, in my experience having a bad sensor typically results in a check engine light and running with a less than optimum fuel air mixture, it does not typically keep your vehicle from starting. If your still getting the 1137 error code after replace the o2 sensor and checking its connecting wires I would start looking for a bigger issue.

Wont start and trouble code is p1441

P1441 Evaporative Emission System Flow During Non-Purge.

The vacuum system/Evaporative recovery system. Evap. (vapor cannister) code MAY be as a result of excessive fuel flow into the cylinders overloading the cannister's capacity. Possible cause is a failing Oxygen sensor giving a "Lean" indication to the engine computer, causing more fuel than is needed to be injected into the cylinders and captured by the vapor system. Trying to keep track of the changing readings may be taxing the computer's memory. Have the oxygen sensor checked. If it is functioning correctly, check for vacuum leaks, cracked or broken vacuum hoses.

Take you car to a professional as this is going to take some skill and knowledge to repair. Dont keep buying parts to fix the problem as this will get very expensive.

I have just recently purchased a 2000 pontiac Sunfire SE for my daughter it is very basic, no power anything, no air conditioning and the Check Engine Light keeps coming on. I had it checked at Autovalue...

It is eleven years old !!

They don't make Pontiacs any more

Good choice to buy one ?? No

Fuses complete a circuit,they don't fix things
They are like a solid wire, until they get hot
from a short or current over load, then melt to
open and protect the circuit

Any check light you get indicates your vehicle
has a possible system malfunction. (something isn't
working correctly) Govt mandated --usually emission related,
thus the check light
Have it checked for codes, diagnose the system with
codes, and come up with a repair solution

Are the cooling fans coming on?
Got coolant in system and no air

What is the code they got at Autovalue?
These stores don't help much
You still have to get the vehicle diagnosed
and repaired,if you don't do all you own work

P1442 usually gas cap. P1449 usually vent solenoid. P1441 usually always a faulty FTP sensor. Very problematic to Malibu, Grand Am Cavaliers and Aleros. That would be my first area to check. They are also known for poor wiring connections at the Left rear passthru connector to the fuel tank and vent solenoid, but not necessarily for that code.

Where is the sensor for a Pontiac Sunfire ''07'' that gives error code PO455?

A P0455 is a Evap system (large) leak. Sometimes this code is set by a missing or bad fuel filler cap.

You need to have a diagnosis done to it and get an error code in order to proceed with fixing this vehicle else you will be changing parts forever.

NY 1996 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi diagnostic trouble codes P0301 and P1441

Since it is a 1996, you probably have high miles on it.
Most cars after 100,000 miles or so are automatically set to have the check engine light come on.
