Question about 2001 Dodge Stratus

1 Answer

HELP! I have a 2001 Dodge Stratus R/T which im having problems with. Its hard for me to figure it out because theres 2 types of manuels for it for some odd reason everything exterior is Dodge everything else on the car was manufactured by Mitsubishi. Anyways my problem has to do with the with the gears, it shifts perfectly well and starts normally but i hit the gas and it slips BAD!!! it does not accelerate until after a long period of deep pedalling which is gas consuming. My question is what do I need to check and replace because the whole clutch kit for these cars are very pricey. Im not a mechanic and I dont want one to screw me with a tune for it if it is just something minor. Please respond I would greatly appreciate it

Your going to have to replace the clutch. I have a 97 honda civic and it does the same thing. Yes it maybe very pricey but in the long run better than having to replace a fly wheel also.

The interior fuse box is located on the drivers side, on the side of the dash.
You may become a pretzel when replacing a fuse. Bring a small flashlight and a mirror.

Side view passenger mirror

there will be a small triaglular panel in the furthest side of your door which despite it being hard to come off will clip off. try to take care while pulling this off as the pins can snap quite easily. then you will see the 2/3 bolts connecting the mirror. once you have undone these then unplug electrics which im presuming from age it has, and you will be ready to connect new one.
