My suggestion is to purchase a Haynes Repair Manual for $25 or so from Auto Zone, or online: http://www.haynes.com/products/searchType/vehicleApplicationSearch2/searchEnd/yes/sfID1//sfID2//sfID3//year/1995/make/Honda/model/Civic/x/21/y/7/productID/200. They have complete instructions and pictures of step by step repairs based on a complete teardown and rebuild. Good investment for those of us with any age used cars.

I need 1988 mercury cougar v6 spark plug wire diagram!!!..thank you...

If your talking about the firing order? I didn't know if you had distributor or coil pack, so here is both. I don't like using a picture to show number 1 spark plug tower, that can be misleading, with a distributor. The firing order is 142536.

Diagram or picture of where the spark plug wires go into the distributer on a engine number 318-1

For this you have to determine when the #1 cylinder is at TDC (Top Dead Center) - when it would be firing. Take the distributor cap off and look at the rotor - it would be pointing at the #1 spark plug wire on the distributor. The wires would be connected it order around the distributor cap starting at 1. The sequence is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 in a clockwise fashion.

Lost diagram of coil wiring on 74 type 1 VW bug

The standard wiring is like this. From the Ign. switch, when the key is on you have the hot coil wire, this wire will connect to the positive terminal on the coil. The negative side of the coil will go down to the distributor points connector where the condenser will also be wired. See #1 in this picture. mcneb_7.gifHere is also a picture of how to wire your distributor. Now this picture shows a resistor wired to the positive side of the coil it is not necessary. It is used to save the points in some older systems. Some may not run with it. Hope this helps Fix Ya up. mcneb_8.gif

How to replace ignition coil

there are 2 types of ignition coil: in the 1st picture (the red one), you just need to remove the screws attached to the vehicle, remove the 2 smaller wires, then remove the high tension wire. REMEMBER to mark the wire for the positive(+) terminal of the ignition coil. for the 1nd picture, this requires some skill. this type of ignition coil is placed directly under your distributor. so if you are not familiar with ignition timing (timings dictated by the angle of your distributor), do not replace the ignition coil by yourself

How to install cap and rotor on a 2000 chevy blazer 4.3ltre v-6

Disconnect the wires and take pictures with cell phone for reference to ensure you don't cross them when reinstalling the new distributor cap. Remove the two torque screws in the distributor cap and remove the distributor cap to access the rotor. Remove the rotor by lifting straight up and inspect the distributor for any condensation and corrosion. Clean the breather screen at the bottom of the distributor before installing the new rotor which just slides back in place. Install the new distributor cap and tighten the new torque screws, make sure you do not over torque the screws since the distributor housing is plastic and prone to stripping. Reattach the spark plug wires and start the engine and idle for 5 min and go for a test drive. Good luck and you may want to also buy spark plug boot lubricant to ensure the spark plug wires are fully installed when placed back on the new distributor cap and recheck connections after test drive. Keep me posted, be glad to know your blazer is running 100% and please rate.

I need to see a picture of spark plug wiring and distributor for a 1992 chevy 1500 with a 350 motor.

Firing order is:
on the stock intake manifold. It is 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2 (i.e. 18436572, 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 at 4 degrees before top dead center). 1,3,5,7 is on the left bank ,4,6,8 is on the right bank. Clockwise distributor rotation. #1 is identified on the distributor cap, the wire clockwise is #8, etc.
