My 2000 Chevy silverado 1500 z71 wont move. used 4wd then tried to put back into 2wd it would shift into any gear. Put back in park it makes a grinding noise

Sounds like your transfer case in neutral. You have to engage the transfer case back into gear then shift selector to drive or reverse. When your transfer is in neutral the transmission will not operate. Good luck.

Is the 2010 chevy 1500 4x4 crewcab silverado towable with all 4 wheels on the ground behind a motorhome?

Only if you remove the rear drive shaft. Otherwise, even with the transfer case in neutral the rear tires will still spin the transmission.

Service 4x4 light came on the truck has 135,000 miles and it is a 2000 chevy 1500

I am by no means an expert but I had the same issue with my 2000 chevy 1500. I bought a new 4x4 switch from the dealer for about $70; it just pops out and back in; it completely fixed the problem including the fact that it would not kick out of 4 wheel drive. Apparently the switch is a very common problem with this make and model.

Had the same problem. Easy fix. Grasp the plastic dashboard piece that goes around the instrument cluster and 4 wheel drive switch and pull off. Remove the 4 wheel drive switch. Unplug wiring harness from back of switch. use small screwdriver and carefully bend all metal tabs in back of switch slightly to one side. Re-install harness and switch back into dash. Should work fine, it just was not getting a connection. Worked great for me.
