Hi, have you checked your intake manifold gaskets for a leak? If not, start the car and spray carb cleaner on the gaskets, If the engine speed changes, you have a leak. Also recommend you verify the throttle is closing fully. please let me know if you have questions or need instructions for changing the gaskets.

Check your coolant temp sensor if it's bad it will idle high keeping the car running lean and rich,if ok I would suspect a intake leak.check again.

when you replaced the isc sensor did you go through and reset the computer? If not it will not idle correctly, first disconnect battery neg side for 10minutes,then put car in drive with brake on and a chalk let it sit in drive for 15minutes,turn off and drive 1drive cycle about 15 miles then it should be reset.

What does a P1506 error code on 03 Ford Taurus SEL mean

P1506 Idle Air Control Over Speed Error.
Vacuum leak or throttle sticking:
Are the vacuum controlled heater functions working properly?
Try plugging off the Evap Emissions hoses, large and small.
Use a tire gauge to measure idle fuel pressure, both with modulator valve normal and vacuum hose off. Should be 30 and 40 psi.Measure vacuum with a gauge. I would expect near 20 inches at normal idle.I'd replace the PCV valve, and carefully inspect the hose and connections.

I have a very high idle I have changed PCV hose and valve,EGR valve, Mass airflow sensor, Coil pack, spark plugs. The car starts Idle is at 2500 and goes to 3000 for about 30 seconds then drops to 700

I hope you didn't change all those parts in the attempt to solve the idle problem. First, make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks. Using a can of carb & choke cleaner, lightly spray around vacuum lines, connectors, and the intake manifold. Use safety glasses and extreme care to NOT spray the exhaust manifold, as the cleaner is very combustible. If the engine speed increases consistently in a specific area, you have a vacuum leak that needs repaired. You can also listen for a hissing sound and cover or move vacuum hoses around to see if the noise changes or disappears. Otherwise, your problem is probably what is called the idle air control motor. It is a valve on the throttle body which allows air to bypass the throttle plate to regulate engine idle speed. More often than not, it will cause your problem and never activate the check engine light or show a trouble code. The part will cost approx $50-$75.

i recently had this issue with my 2001 taurus dohc engine. when you drive it seems that everything is fine. when you stop, the car will idle very low and somethimes shut off. there is a hose under the throttle body that is attached to the pcv valve. over time, this hose will collapse and eign to tear. i replace that hose (autozone for $10) and it solved my idling problem.

2003 ford taurus idle problems had trouble codes

A code P0174 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. Note: The use of "oiled" air filters can cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry.
  • There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor. and your solutions are.
    • In the vast majority of cases, simply cleaning the MAF sensor does the trick. Consult your service manual for it's location if you need help. I find it's best to take it off and spray it with electronics cleaner or brake cleaner . Make sure you are careful not to damage the MAF sensor, and make sure it's dry before reinstalling
    • Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if necessary
    • Check for a dirty fuel filter and proper fuel pressure
