I have a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue Dash indicators up and down flickering brake light everything's on and then they go off the last time they came on the car shut off all the needles went buried to nothing...

power surging is a faulty alternator it will fry the battery and other electrics, regulator built into the alternator can do this, reverts from dc current back to ac when ac is supposed to convert to dc, and ac can be as much as 140 volts.

Is replacing alternator a diy job

It is depending on your experience and the location of the alternator. You'll need the proper tools, and it is recommended to remove the alternator and take it in when you purchase the replacement to be sure you get the right one. Also, you won't be charged for the core because you will already have it there.

Be sure to disconnect the battery before starting the job. Some alternators are really buried in the engine compartment, so you may need to remove other components to gain access. You'll also need to remove the serpentine belt, so be sure you know how to do that.

How do I replace my alternater belt in my Mazda 626 lx

If the alternator is on the top in the open, just loosen the alternator bolts a little bit. Then push the alternator to loosen the belt to remove it. Do the opposite to put the new belt on.

If the alternator is buried under a lot of other things, it's a lot tougher job.
Hope this helps.

No, it is buried inside of the alternator. Replace the whole alternator.

New battery dies, starter was replaced

The alternator charging system must be serviced. It could be the alternator itself, and maybe a burned out fuse link (a special section of wire buried within the wiring bundle to help prevent a fire if a short circuit occurs within the alternator). Take the car to an auto parts store--they usually will test it for free in hopes that you will buy a replacement from them.

Tach needle buried at park

Purchase a new keyless remote FOB. The signal from the remote is weak and loses contact with the anti-theft module in the instrument cluster. We have 2 sets of keys and 1 worked while the other caused the instrument cluster needles to jump and jam the gear selector. The problem is not the car's battery, alternator, wiring or instrument cluster.
