The central power supply module part number needs to be checked. If it has part number 16058596 it needs to be replaced with the updated part number 16088406. I know I had the same problem. no more

Where is the power module located at on a 1988 olds toronado

If you are talking about the Central Power Module, it is located under the dash to the left of the steering column. It is a small silver box, mounted vertically with a single black or gray rectangular connector.

I have what appears to be a oil and fuel leak. 1988 olds toronado

1. Check the oil (with dipstick) see if it smells the same as the oil spot you were detecting.

2. Fuel leaks are usually accompanied by a strong odor of fuel and time the vehicle is running.

I will guess that this car has quite a few miles on it. Having the gas ending up in the oil a bit is normal for high miles engines. As they get older they should be changed more often to keep this from happening.

As for the oil leak, only a visual inspection can determine the leak source. I would bet on a seal.

On my 1988 toronado the head lights will go off and the dash will flash lighting problem. whats wrong and how do i fix it?

Does your vehicle have the Twilight Sentinel option? The sliding contacts on these switches are notorious for going bad. When they lose continuity they cause all sorts of weird lighting problems. Your best bet is to find one on eBAy and replace it. You might be able to disassemble the one you have and clean the contacts, but it is not really worth the effort.

No night time illumination, dash or console - 88 toronado - dash stays lt for day use at night

if theres no illumination try checking the fusebox and look for the gauge fuse, if its broken replace it. if the fuse is fine then try replacing the bulbs in the instrumental panel, it will take a long work but u can really fix it, just remember to where to put the screws back. hope this helps. thanks

My electronic dash and climite control on my 1988 toronado turn on and off

According to the 1988 shop manual, the IPC instrument panel cluster - and the overhead map lights
receive power from the computer modules which seem to be located behind the glove box, I plan to
remove the cardboard from the glove box and check for loose connectors. If this fails, I will contact a
self employed mechanic who used to work for an Olds dealer. He is both competent and honest.
