Question about 2005 Kia Sorento
Quite commonly on this car the camshaft or crankshaft sensor are to blame, it is very difficult to say without a diagnostic code. If you can get the car to a independant garage or a mobile mechanic to get the fault code from the computer I can tell you exactly what the issue is. I would try this route first as it will only cost you about £50, once I know what the fault is I can tell you how to fix it also.
Another alternative is the cars immobiliser, to remedy this disconnect the car battery overnight if possible or at least for a few hours, then reconnect in this order red first then black. see if that resets the ompuetr this often does the job.
