The belts are tightened by a belt tentioner assembly, you are probably asking this question because of a squeel, If this is correct change out the belt, and possibly an idler pullly this is common in the sierra's and silverado's

How do I adjust slack in steering box on a 1990 seirra gmc 4x4 5.7liter

There is a way to take up some backlash in the steering box by undoing the large locking nut on the top of the housing and turning the center screw in just a small amount . Do not tighten it down too much as it make the steering too stiff and unable to self center.

2003 GMC Seirra Duramax Deisel won't start

If it cranks and won't start then it is probably your glow plug system which is used to help with starting as diesel engines have no plugs and rely on compression. It also helps to run a lighter oil in the winter so it will crank faster. You can ohm out the plugs to see if they are broken. I am not sure of the wiring on the GMC but usually diesels have several wired in parallel

I have a gmc seirra k1500 5.7L V8 and the engion is knocking and is really loud it started of with a ticking noise is this due to a bad plug?

Yes this is definitely due to timing or plugs. First check the timing belt. It could be loose and needs to be tightened. If timing belt is OK remove each plug & check that the gaps of all the plugs are the same & that there are no oil deposit at the ends. If the plugs spark points are worn out, replace the plugs.

When is it reccomended to change your timming belt on a 2000 GMC seirra z71

These vehicles actually have a timing chain, not timing belt. These chains obviously last much longer than belts. These last till about 200,000 miles, then you start experiencing chain tensioner slap, then it's time to replace that little puppy.I hope I could help.Get back to me with any questions.Thx.

1993 Gmc Seirra Power Steering

You will have to remove the serpintine belt off take off the Hoses from the steering box be carefull not to strip them out, use some WD-40 or something the make it easier if they wont come off take your time and work them back and forth, If your just doing the pump then take the hoses off the pump not the steering box, take the retaining bold out of the steering pump and it should come right off.
