Question about Ford Focus
Try to wiggle the handbrake a little and see if it will go out. Sometime the cables get a little stretched and that is just enough not to turn the light off. If you can get the light to flicker when wiggling the the lever you may need to adjust the cable tension a little and that may take care of it. I would also check the fluid level in the master cylinder just to make sure that the brake fluid level is not what is causing the light to come on. If the fluid is low you may want to have your brake system inspected.

This light will remain illuminated when the handbrake is engaged. Illumination after releasing the handbrake may indicate low brake fluid level (MUST CHECK THIS IMMEDIATELY AND RECTIFY).
Hope the information is useful ... be extremely careful and attend to this warning immediately if it is still on with your handbrake off and brake fluid top up!
