Question about Volkswagen Beetle

I have a 74 vw bug. i put a whole new brake system on it but have no pedal. ive bleed them and everything cant seem to figure it out. please help

Did you adjust the brake shoes after you put the brake drums back on? You must adjust them so the brake drum has resistance when you turn it by hand. After you get them adjusted properly, make sure the pedal has a firm feel with no bleed down. Otherwise, bleed the whole system again.

I have a 1991 Mazda Navajo and put a new master cylinder on it and now I have brake pedal fade .


bleed the whole system back to front..still fade you are getting air somewhere... may have to bleed the master out of the car then put back

lose the fittings at the master cylinder, you should have two of them , one for the front brakes and one for the rear, get a friend to push the brake pedal ( not too hard, be careful they may spay all over) ; and see if any fluid is coming out with his pedal down tight the fittings back with the pedal down,so you don't get any air in the lines. If nothing comes out you have a bad master cylinder.

What are the proper steps to bleeding your brakes on a 1990 vw golf deisel


For left hand drive vehicles: (If the car does not have ABS system you do not need any diagnostic equipment!)

IMPORTANT NOTE: You need using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car in order to bleed the ABS block. Follow instructions by scantool equipment for bleeding the ABS block.


1. This bleeding procedure requires two people. Remove the brake system reservoir cap, and fill up with new brake fluid until "MAX" level is reached.
2. Lift the car, or use a channel for access under vehicle.
3. Put the gearbox in "N" - Neutral position, or in "P" - Parking position for automatic transmission.
4. Start the engine and push the brake pedal firmly for 4 - 5 times to the floor, and maintain the brake pedal pushed to the floor.
5. Begin with the rear right wheel. Another person remove the dust cap and loose the brake caliper bleeding screw until the brake pedal goes to the floor. At this moment maintain the brake pedal pushed to the floor, engine idling, and tight the brake caliper bleeding screw. Use a plastic hose: one end connected to the brake caliper bleeding screw, and another end inside a recovery bottle for used brake fluid.
6. Repeat steps no.#4 and no.#5 until no air flows through the brake caliper bleeding screw. Tight the brake caliper bleeding screw, and put the dust cap in their place.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All the time check the brake fluid level in the brake system reservoir, and fill up if necessary!

17. Test the car brake system. The brake pedal movement no more than 1/3 of total stroke until the floor, when brake pedal is applied. Maximum admissible is 1/2 of total stroke.

Clogged brakes on vw bug


Is the pedal easy or hard to push when the bleeder is closed? Easy or hard when it is open? If it is easy when closed, I would suspect a failing master cylinder. Try opening the bleeder and pumping the pedal. If you get a good flow, then the mastercylinder may be bad. If the pedal is hard with the bleeder open, then you have a clog. Have you ever replaced the brake hoses that connect to the brake cylinders? When these get old, the rubber swells and restricts the hole.

adjust the push rod that enters the cylinder.Sounds like your not letting the fluid into the cylinder.Shorten the pushrod then try.If still no success extend the rod if that fails you have a faulty cylinder.Hope that was helpfull good luck.

My Lincoln Navigator has been to 4 diff shops, please help


to me this sounds more like a wheel speed sensor than anything to do with the actual brakes itself, my brother had a similar problem with his 03 F150. i replaced the wheel speed sensors and the problem seemed to disapate.
