Hi, this problem requires a bit of troubleshooting. I did send you a list of steps in a separate post, but I can step you through it here. First, I recommend you try to jump start the car, as this will narrow down the possibilities. If the car will jump start, the problem is likely a low battery or corroded/loose battery terminals. A low battery might be caused by a failed alternator. Let's cross that bridge if we get there.
If the car will not jump start, does it click only once when you turn the key or does it click-click-click. If the latter, the problem may be a bad starter relay or a bad solenoid. If it clicks only once, the problem is likely your starter.
Please try a jump start and let me know what happens. Then I will advise you on any needed repairs. When you reply, please also provide your model and year of manufacture.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Wil not turnover makes all the usual sounds when starting then will start clicking will not engage starter & turnover moter

Probably a rusted starter solenoid - get a hammer and give the solenoid (cylinder attached to the starter motor) a few good thumps. If that fixed it, get the unit replaced because it will happen again.

If this trick does not work, check the wiring for loose or rusted earth - another common fault

BMW X5 2001... Will not start/turnover when the key is in the ignition and turned lights on cluster etc work/come on but engine will not turnover and when trying to turnover lights start blinking ie...

This sounds like the battery may be weak or a bad connection. I would start by have the battery checked or try jump starting the car, try jumpimg it and see if that will make it start, if it starts then you may have a charging or battery problem, seeeing that this car is over 10yrs old and if the battery is the same one that came with the car then i would have to think you may have a bad battery. good day

Van sometimes will not turnover when you turn the key, just makes a clicking sound. You can try it a couple of times and it will start fine. Had battery checked and it's ok. Maybe starter is going out?

This is typical of a starter going bad. It is caused by the main start relay going bad. The contacts are burned and have lots of carbon buildup on them.

has the battery been tested? sounds like low battery voltage, the diode would not be the cause most likely.

2002 jaguar x type wont start, lights, radio, air have power. clicking sound when turning the key to start the engine. Engine light stays, no engine turnover

Hi .
unlikely to be immobiliser fault ,so check basics, try a set of jump leads or check battery voltage above 12.5,if the clicking is coming from the starter motor with a fully charged battery then suspect starter motor failure.

If you're not hearing a click from the starter check for a starter relay. May be burned out! DO you hear the fuel pump kick in when you turn the key on? If not something might have triggered your security system and locked you out!
