You'll need a scanner to erase any code, including an SRS light. If the light is on, indicating there is an issue within the SRS system, it really requires diagnostic and repair due to safety concerns. If the repair is not done to the vehicle and the code is erased, the light will just come back on again.

There is a scanner that says it resets airbag codes to remove the light on your system if it comes on is this true?

No.
A scantool that specifically is programmed to read the SRS system on a vehicle likely has the ability to clear the code that turned on the lamp if it faulted once and then the root cause never happened again. However in most cases (think 99.9%), when a warning lamp comes on...be it Check Engine, ABS, SRS/Airbag, or whatever else; there is a fault that needs to be checked/repaired. Any competent scantool that specifically supports your vehicle's enhanced systems will likely have the ability to command the computer to erase the fault, but unless the cause of the fault is repaired, the light will return immediately or as soon as the conditions of the fault re-occur and you not only will have gained nothing, but valuable saved fault data and information that a technician can use to diagnose and repair the fault may be lost in the clearing procedure making the diagnostic/repair much more difficult and the chances of misdiagnosis much higher.
Further. since its an SRS related fault, if the code is set due to CRASH DATA STORED (Meaning the SRS computer activated safety systems due to an accident or a perceived accident and deployed airbag, seatbelt tensioners, or active headrests), then no conventional scantool can clear the lamp without significant repairs. The Airbag computer on modern vehicles has a "BLACK-BOX" memory circuit similar to what airplanes use, When a crash occurs (Or what it thinks was a crash), the computer stores the memory permanently and writes it to a location that cannot be cleared by plug-in tooling. WHile there are ways to clear it, they will require custome erase and reprogram of the SRS module using specialized equipment. No scantool is natively capable of this function, as it is a law that the black box data be automatic and UN-eraseable in the event followup investigation is needed by law enforcement or fire or insurance agencies. It also is designed to withstand fire or total destruction of the chassis.
If the problem was caused by a lateral repair, there is the possibility the repaired part is not compatible or not properly programmed to work with the other modules on the vehicle, or that the newly repaired system now is activating a test or system that wasnt correctly operating or self testing when the previous problem existed. It may not be the fault of the technician, and may merely be a case of repairing one problem allowed a previous problem to become visible.
If the replaced module is showing the lamp/fault, the installing tech should have furnished an explanation as to why his repair to the airbag system did not result in normal operation and continued diagnosis or provided an estimate for additional repairs to finalize the repair.

Why is srs light staying on ?

Because the system has a fault. Have it scanned for the fault codes.

How to rest srs light

Hi.

If the SRS light is on it means that a problem with the SRS has been detected and an error code has been stored in the relevant computer modules. If there is no fault the SRS light will go off after disconnecting battery terminals for five minutes (make sure you have stereo code if needed). Most of the times the light cannot be reset unless the fault causing the problem is fied (e.g. defective SRS sensor). The best thing to do is a code scanning that will also reset the light, followed with troubleshooting and repair of the problem that is triggering the SRS warning.

Regards.

SRS (supplemental restraint system) has a
fault or malfunction

Has to be diagnosed & repaired

Not familar with On Board Diagnostics Systems ?
They have been on all vehicles for 30 years

Today my car did not start due to heavy rain show the srs fault what is meaing?

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

The SRS will mean an airbag fault. As a first course of action please remove the positive battery connector and let it sit for 5mins. then reconnect it again. This should reset the system and get rid of the SRS fault code. If the problem still persists then have the dealership take a look on the SRS for it will really restrict the car from running.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Srs light on

1st you need to either buy or make the "SCS Service Connector" #07PAZ-0010100 from H and A Accesories for $3.51. Use a speaker harness for an older Honda which you can buy at a local stereo shop such as Circuit City or Best Buy, and cut the wires and looped them together. You can also use a paperclip but that will make it a little more difficult because you have to connect it and disconnect it a few times quickly. 2nd you need to find the MES (Memory Erase Signal) connector as pictured below scs_small.jpgsrs_plug_small.jpg
It is a yellow connector with two wires in it that is plugged into the fuse box, unplug it and pull it down. Once you have done that you can begin the process of erasing the memory. NOTE: This will only reset your SRS System if what caused it to trigger has been fixed, Ex: turning the ignition on with any SRS Plugs disconnected, such as pulling your seat out.

1st step in erasing the memory is to turn the ignition off and connect the SCS Service connector to the MES Plug.

2nd Turn Ignition on. SRS indicator light will come on for about 6 seconds then go off.

3rd Disconnect SCS service connector for MES connector within 4 seconds after SRS indicator light goes off. SRS indicator light will come on again.

4th Reconnect SCS service connector the MES connector within 4 seconds after SRS light comes on. SRS indicator light will go off.

5th Disconnect SCS service connector from MES connector within 4 seconds. SRS indicator light will indicate that memory is erased by blinking 2 times.

6th Turn ignition off, and wait 10 seconds. Start vehicle like normal and light should come on and go out like normal. You have reset your SRS light, congrats.

If it does not work the first time try it again, the timing has to be perfect. My first time it took me 3 attempts before it worked, but it did work.
