Question about 2003 Hummer H2

1 Answer

Dear Sir! just wanted to know about the TC2 on deep now, today when I am driving my Hummer H2 on deep snow and my passenger right wheel spinning, then I stop my truck and put on neutral and switch from 4Hi Open to 4Hi Lock + TC2 button, and I can run again my truck and safe me from deep snow, but my question is why when my truck running on 4Hi Lock + TC2 is little hard to turn my steering wheel to left or right? and I feel something like little knocking on the tie rod. Thank you for the answer, God Bless.

On your hummer ,as on other 4x4 if in 4 wheel you must have slippage on the tires or you will snap the drive shafts or u joints.the wheels on a turn will turn at diff speeds thats why in 4 wheel it feels like you are crawling over your own fender.its ok if on packed snow or rain but if you have good grip tires it might do it in the rain.never have in 4 wheel lock on dry pavement.

When my car is stuck in the snow and doesnt seem to get traction only one wheel spins and not the other and its front wheel drive wouldnt both spin?

No, even a 4x4 will have only 1 wheel that will spin on each axle in this instance. It's called a floating differential. For stock vehicles with non locking differentials like you have, both cannot spin or have full power at the same time. Hard to explain on this, but picture your car making a hard right turn. Both front wheels would be spinning at different speeds because of the turn. The passenger side tire is spinning much slower than the drivers side tire, therefore if both were spinning at the same time, your tires would chirp and skip on the pavement which would eventually ruin your differential. In offroad applications, we WANT the differentials locked and turning at the same time with true 4x4. But in normal everyday vehicles, even standard stock 4x4's, only 1 tire will do the spinning per axle unless it has possitraction or full locked axle. Clear as snow?

WHY DO I HEAR A POPPING NOISE WHEN I TURN STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT ON H2 2003 HUMMER

This is probably due to worn ball joints. If you hear it especially when turning into a parking spot or at a standstill, this is usually worn ball joints. Let me know what else I can do for you.

Just got H 2 2005 4 buttons 4 the 4 wheel drive

Use 2 wheels, the other 4wd low ,for climbing at slow speeds: 4wd high, for driving on low traction roads, like mud or snow,at medium speeds: 4wd auto full time all wheel drive, for highway speeds on slippery surfaces, like rain or light snow.

NEED TO KNOW TORQUE SETTINGS ON HUMMER H2

for what........the wheels?

Call the tire shop where you bought your tires. Tell them you had to put your spare tire on and you want to torque it correctly. Some shops torque all lugs the same, maybe 85 lbs of torque. But tire shops have manuals to check the manufacturers for exact torque settings for the wheel studs.

If its something deeper than wheels, buy the repair manual.

You can afford the Hummer.........buy the book (LOL)
