If you have a oil fill cap that is leaking -- your best choice to fix this problem is to buy a new oil cap that has a new gasket all ready fitted to it. as far as I know they do not sell the gaskets by themselves. if you are trying to avoid the cost of a new cap - you can go to the part store and see if they have a O-ring that is the proper dimentions and fit it to the cap,, ( also some hardware stores carry O-rings that may work ).

How do i replace a oil housing gasket on a 2000 3.8 grand prix?

You'll need new gasket for oil pan,,,proper socket and drive to fit the bolts around circumference of pan.scraper and new oil or catch pan to save old oil, approx 5 qts . 1/ Begin by draining oil....drain plug on lower part of pan..get that wrench also.....it is larger than bolts arund pan......2/after drained, put drain plug back in and tighten snugly. not too tite......3/remove pan by removing all the nuts around pan, dislodge pan from it's seal , may takea little tender tapping with rubber mallet to release the pan, do not pry at lip, you may damage pan....4/ Clean both sealing surfaces of old gasket.....5/ dampen new gasket with oil and put it on pan in proper position, ....6/put bolts back in pan one on each side to hold pan up,,,put rest of bolts in pan and tighten in random pattern around pan trying to keep pan even at mating to engine.....7/when pan is on and fairly snug, fill the oil into filler at proper fill neck w proper amt of oil. about 5 qts,U.S......Make sure drain plug is not dripping, if so, put a little more torque on it. Not too much, they are prone to strip. Done. Or, about 40 dollars at oil change place.

Is replacing an oil pan in a 2004 toyota camry an easy fix ?

It isn't too hard. You need to drain the oil first ( make sure to change the gasket around the plug every time you remove and replace the plug or it will leak), then drop the oil pan... put down lots of absorber pads as there will be droppings. Have a rag on hand for your hands. Scrape and clean the old seal where the oil pan meets the engine then put on a new one once it is thoroughly cleaned. Put on new pan, or repair old one.... again make sure to replace oil pan gasket and new oil drain gasket ( around plug..) since your going that far get a new oil filter also.... fill the new filter with oil before installing, fill up the engine with new oil..ps. It takes a few minutes to run down so wait between oil bottles and check the level ( don't run the car) fill the oil until the dip stick reads full ( remember wait a few minutes between each liter of oil to give it a chance to leak into the bottom of the engine). I believe it is around 4.5 quarts including the amount needed to fill the filter.

Where is the leak coming from on my 1995 honda accord lx

oil leaks around the filter generally mean that the oil filter is too tight and the gasket is damaged , filter installed on a dry gasket, -damaging the gasket, lip of the filter is faulty--manufacturing problem, the old gasket for the filter was not removed before fitting a new filter--- gasket squeezing out
remove the filter, best replace with a new filter, remove any old gasket stuck to the housing, put a thin film of oil on the new gasket and screw up to touch then 1/4 turn ( fitting instructions on the box or filter)
do not over tighten

What kind of sealant do i use for leaking gasket

I use a product called Gasket Black. Basically it's silicone. it is available in Black and Grey. when you put it on the gasket make sure there is no oil or other contaminant (like antifreeze for example) and when you use the silicone you want a small bead in a continuous line all around the gasket, DO NOT spread the silicone flat you want a line about the size of a spaghetti noodle.

How do I remove the oil pan on a 1998 Toyota Avalon?

Jack your car first , Open the oil drain plug and let the oil drain, start to remove the bolts around the oil pan , take it off and If you are not willing to change the pan then wash it really good and scrap the old gasket with a blade or sand paper.

To put it back, use new gasket and silicon sealant around the oil pan and make sure to put it back as it was and make sure everything is sealed because you dont wanna have an oil leak after you get done. Good luck Bro

Chevy Silverado threw all the oil out around the oil filter. Changed the filter, but that wasn't the problem. What could be causing it to lose all the oil?

Take th oil filter off and make sure there is only one gasket sometimes the old one will stick there and the new ones cannot make a good seal

Does the kia sportage need a cork gasket installed with a new oil pan?

No, the baffle plate is the gasket...if it's not in bad shape put some red Permatex around the block, install the baffle, and oil strainer, then apply the permatex around the oil pan and install.
