Question about Saturn Ion

1 Answer

Just bought a used 2004 Saturn Ion 1 from a local Honda dealer. It was a trade in. They inspected it, did an oil change, and fixed a few minor problems before selling it to me. It has 77,000 miles on it and runs very good, no problems. I was going to have the transmission flushed and refilled with new transmission fluid as a precaution because I do not know if it was ever done before. Some people say with that much mileage just leave it alone, it could cause a problem. What do you recommend? Thanks.

I would go ahead and service the transmission. I have been a mechanic 30 years and I have seen cars have problems after they serviced the trans but they had a lot more miles than that. If you don't service it now than you may have problems. You would be better off to service it now.

Radio code for 2004 honda accord

Hi,

If you bought the car originally from a Honda dealer, there is a way to obtain the code for free as Honda are one of the few manufacturers to provide online support to customers on this issue. Your original purchase of the car must be through the Honda network for the online help to work though.

For more information on this please view this FixYa Tip

If you bought your car privately or through a non Honda dealer, the other option is to try your local Honda dealer directly for the information. They will require the radio serial number. To get this press buttons 1 and 6 at the same time. The serial will show on the display after a few seconds. Many Honda dealers will provide the information for free over the phone unlike other manufacturers.

Hope it helps. Thanks for using FixYa.

2004 saturn Ion-Oil is 5W-30?

Most manufacturers went to 5w30 viscosity oil for mileage gains. I myself would consider a 5w30 synthetic oil to further increase change intervals and protection. A potential milelage gain is a positive side benefit.

2004 Saturn Ion oil change

Oil drain plug is its on the back passenger side of the engine out of sight unless you under the car itself .

It's a cartridge filter that goes into a canister. You'll need a 32mm oil filter canister socket to remove the cover to access the filter. You can find it at PepBoys for less than $10 by the other oil change supplies.

I have a saturn ion 3 and my driver side seat belt wont come out of the retracter

I would take it to your local Saturn or GM dealer, most componets like seatbelts are covered under the Factory Warranty still. There is really no other way to fix it as the internal retractor is jammed and those parts are Non-Servicable and the entire Seat Belt Assembly will need to be replaced.

You could have a simple vacuum leak or a faulty computer.Listen to the engine with the hood up to see if you can hear a loud hissing sound that indicate a vac leak
