Question about 2003 Chevrolet Impala

2003 chevy inpala one just died, two places said computer.. so replaced computer (used) replaced battey replaced ing.switch still when turn key nothing can go under car and jump start and will start up and dies like fuel pump was turned off ..with key off int. lights flashing ans so in lights on ac heater blinking very fast ...what else is left to try ...

    ok what kind of a ris. on which wire of the ing swich under the dash???? and this will caues it to not crank ,, and if i but that resitor on it should solve the problem and crank????

    This is a big help... I went to that web site... Man unbeliveable,,,you would think GM would have a recall on this issue.. but i guess it's their way of making us joes pay at the dealer..

Gm's around this time are notorious for having problems with electrical systems and the factory alarms, you need to look at that issue-

I have personal experience with a 2005 Impala, a 2001 Intrigue and 2003 Grand Am, to name a few in which I bypassed the security module because of erratic things similar to what you are describing. This can be accomplished by putting a resistor in line to the feed from the ignition switch to the module-

    Your reply was not real coherent, but I'll try to help out...the resistor you would need to install is a simple 2200 ohm resistor, purchased at radio shack for less than 25 cents-the theft module is located under the dash on the glove box side (actually it is behind the glove box)-you cut the yellow wire that goes into the module from the ignition switch and install the resistor in line there. It simulates the resistance expected from your worn ignition switch.

    A no-crank situation is either a bad battery, defective starter or starter relay, or a defective ignition switch as determined by the security module, which is the most likely cause. this happens to A LOT of GM's in the early 2000's, google 'early 2000 GM security system problems' for lots of information.

You need to check your ing switch if it's starting fine right then when you let go of the key so it;s in the run pos and it dies. check the switch.

2000 chrysler 300m-ignition will not turn


It sounds like the ignition tumbler and/ or switch needs to be replaced. To avoid all the testing and such, replace both at the same time, since they get the same ware. Otherwise, take it to a good locksmith and let them see if it needs a good lub-ing and some cleaning.You know, ear wax and all that stuff people use keys for! A locksmith might cost you around 75 to 100 bucks per hour/ solution in the mid west. BTW- NEVER keep a lot of keys on your key ring. It's been known to be the cause of MANY ignition switch issues.Instead use a ring that un-clips or breaks away from your big wad of keys.

Have to shake key to turn key on sometimes it won't start but it will start with push backwards have replaced switch behind clutch


you may need to replace the ignition body and lock no more the $60 on my cousins Ford Explorer so it shouldnt cost you too much

Replaced multiswitch in 2000 chevy s10 blazer and now the car won


at the base of the steering column there a orange and white wires these two wires come from the ing switch, you will see the connector that they go to disconnect that take a ohm meter, take the leads one lead to one wire the other lead to the other there should be res, if there is not, try a different setting . take your ing key on the the key you will see a chip take two leads from your meter and either side of the chip place the leads you will see a res reading, you should see the same at the orange and white wires . if you do not replace the ing switch the switch will come with these wires. replacing the switch takes a couple specail tools good luck and let me know how it gose
