Your best bet is to purchase a Chilton or Haynes manual for that vehicle first nad read over it before getting your hands dirty, it has a timing chain which you will need instruction to realign, the rest is removal of intake and exhaust manifolds and head...bit more to it than that but, if it were overheated you may have to have the head machined, and pressure tested for cracks(aluminum) and use proper torque with NEW(recommended) head bolts, let me know if that helps OR if you need better insight

1994 nissan pu starter drags when engine is warm, new starter, new battery. new timing chain & gear, valve job, head gasket

1. Make sure all the high-current battery and starter connections are clean and shiny. Don't just wipe them off; get one of those battery terminal cleaners that scrapes off the top layer of oxidation. Use a wire brush on connections the battery cleaner doesn't fit. Remove each connection, clean it and put it back.

2. Be sure the timing is set correctly.

3. If there was a heat shield on the starter, make sure it's still there.

4. Get the starting system checked at an auto parts store. Maybe you got a bad battery or starter.

Need help to figure out where my 1994 QUEST IS LEAKING?

I would make sure the water pump gasket is not leaking. If the car is blowing white smoke,i would be looking at a blown head gasket.

1994 Acura Legend. My mechanic just fixed the blown headgaskets and now the vehicle has an up and down idle problem. What could be the cause?

You may want to take it back to him/her and make sure that gasket was installed properly and not cracked or upside down. With you just having the head gasket replaced it possible that gasket is leaking air somewhere and your engine is loosing pressure. You may want to also ask him/her if he fooled with the throttle body at all when replacing the head gasket. I would definitely inquire with your mechanic about this.

2002 nissan extera. 6-cylider. engine over heated. The thermostat has been replaced and the old coolant has been replaced. The engine still over heats with in a 15 minute drive at a average speed of 45...

If the info of where the leaks are is correct, you need to replace the head gasket. Are you seeing the level of coolant drop? Since this is happening in 15 min. check your cooling fan(s) to make sure they are operating - that is, kicking on as the temp rises. There is a possibility that the fan is not going on due to a failed switch or motor, and that is the reason for overheating (hope it's that and not the head gasket. For it to be the head gasket, you would have to have a pretty severe leak for it to overheat that quickly).

Oily foam in rocker cover breather pipe

if it has been over heated, problem is head gasket... When it's cold, remove the radiator filler cap.... watch for bubbles, and look for heavy sweet smelling exhaust (this is not always typical). You also may just have alot of blowbye oil.... especially considering the mileage... i would recommend a quality remanufactured long block
