Question about Honda Civic

I have an OBD 2 code reader, it gives abbreviated descriptions. I'm looking for information describing exactly what each code means. Right now I'm getting 6 codes, P0300, P0133, P0301, P0303, P0304, P1399 on my '98 Civic LX, 1.6 liter. The car starts ok, but sputters bad on acceleration. I already changed the timing belt and fuel pressure regulator, I rechecked the timing marks and they line up correctly.

if u have a code reader there is a code look up option on all obd readers go to the code lookup type in your code and it will give u a description of code if u don't have a scanner any auto parts store will scan for free.

1999 chevy won't come out of 4 low, tried shifting to neutral, actuator is good, no codes come up on scan.


Your problem shows as a problem with a 1999 Chevrolet C1500. Then you describe the problem as not coming out of 4-wheel Low. If your Truch HAS 4 wheel drive, it is a "K" series truck, not a "C" series truck. K1500? (Minor detail, but some people don't know the difference and can give you some really goofy advise if they try to look it up the way it is listed.)

Anyway, I have to ask this: Did you actually scan your transfer case module or did you scan with a generic OBD code reader? It should be noted here that MOST OBD code readers CANNOT access information from the transfer case or body control modules. They can only access the "GENERIC" side of the engine control computer (or PCM). They also cannot access "vehicle specific" information from ANY modules including the PCM.

With this type of problem, you really need a full access scanner that can read data from all of the modules. That is the only way to check and see if the computer is getting the signals from the control switches to change your drive mode. If the computer is not receiving the signals, then there is a problem with your selector switch or the wiring between the switch and the computer. If the computer IS getting the signal, then there is a problem either with your shift actuator motor assembly or the wiring between the computer and the shift actuator.

Reading the data will also verify the range that the actuator is reporting to the computer. Just because the motor runs, does not mean the actuator is functioning properly. It COULD be reporting to the computer that it is in 2-wheel High when it is actually stuck in 4-wheel Low. This is where comparing computer data to functional testing comes in.

After i did some mecanic work the engine sympol picture still showing, that means again my car have some problem in engine


need to have the fault code pulled to see what sensor is setting the light on. autozone or advance autoparts will pull the codes for you. be sure to get the code number and brief description of code to help in diagnosing the problem.

I am getting both PO715 and PO751 error codes on my 2000 grand caravan. Does this mean the tranmission needs to be rebuilt?


P0751 Shift Solenoid A Performance or Stuck Off (generic OBD description)
P0715 Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction

The service manual does not list P0751 as a valid code for your vehicle. You may want to re-check it to make sure you are reading it correctly. Also note that many generic OBD code readers cannot give complete renderings of "manufacturer-specific" codes. You may be getting this code if you are using a generic OBD code reader because there is a manufacturer-specific code present and P0751 is the closest "generic" rendering of the code that the code reader could find.

P0715 is a CIRCUIT malfunction. NO, this does not mean that your transmission needs to be overhauled. This means that either the turbine speed sensor has an electrical failure in itself or the circuits between the turbine speed sensor and the computer are defective. Electrical diagnosis needs to be done.

Please note that BOTH of these codes can be cause by low battery voltage and attempts to diagnose the circuits involved should only be done AFTER verifying that the battery and charging system is working properly.

Have a warning light lighting up on my 2000 jeep.kinda looks like a movie camera.what does it mean? its upper right hand corner of dash....


That is a actually a side view of an engine, which is called a CEL ( Check Engine Light) and it will be lit up Orange in color. When it lights up it means the (ECM) Computer in the car is telling you that it has received a Trouble Code from a sensor or engine component and you need to have a OBD II (On Board Diagnostic II ) scanner or code reader hooked up to the Diagnostic Port located under the driver's side footwell. The reader will extract a specific code from the computer which a mechanic will look up and they can determine what component needs to be repaired or replaced. Technical Description

Mass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit Malfunction

Basically this means that there's a problem with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or circuit.

You will likely not notice any serious driving problems, but there may be symptoms like a general decrease in power or sluggishness.
Causes

A code P0100 may mean one or more of the following:

* The MAF may be disconnected, or a wiring connection may be bad.
* The MAF sensor may be faulty.

Possible Solutions

Use an OBD II Reader (or go tou your local parts store and they will for free) and reset the code and see if it comes back.
Then start with the cheapest, easiest repair procedures:

* Check the Mass Air Flow Sensor wiring/harness is connected properly and that there are no broken / frayed wires.
* Unplug and reconnect the MAF wiring harness a few times to clear the contacts.
* Check the voltage of the MAF sensor (refer to a repair manual for vehicle specific information).
* Replace the MAF sensor.

Can I get the codes by using my on/off ignition switch or do I have to use a reader


To query and OBD-I-era computer for these codes, put the key in the ignition and turn the key to run (not start), then off, then run, then off, then run (that's 3 runs and 2 offs). Leave the key in the run position.

The check engine light will turn on for a few seconds, then turn off, then (sometimes after 20-30 seconds) start flashing. The flashes are counting out 2-digit trouble codes. Fast flashes count up each digit, with a longer pause between digits. On TJ's with a digital odometer, the code numbers are printed on the odometer in addition to flashing the check engine light. 55 indicates the end of all codes. Once you've got your code list, consult the table below to see what they mean.

OBD-II information is more complex, so the codes for 1998 and newer Jeeps can't be displayed by flashing the check engine light. However, those vehicles which have digital odometers will display the codes on the odometer. I've verified this personally on a 1999 WJ. For those vehicles without digital odometers, or for anybody who wants an English description rather than just a numeric code, an OBD-II code scanner ($100-300) can be plugged in under the dash. OBD-II codes can be looked up online here.


These codes were taken from the '95 XJ/YJ factory service manual.
