On back side of drum is a slot at the bottom of backing plate they have a tool to do this or screw driver will work too. loosen brake maybe still have to hit drum w/hammer to break loose then drum will come off..

What rear brake backing plates can i put in a 1956 ford f100?

check around as some sedans have the same rear brake setups as the f100. Cruise the wreckers (ford specialists) with your backing plate and find a backing plate same as yours from any sedan around the same year as yours.. Brake capacity is calculated on vehicle weight and as manufacturers are reluctant to spend money on developing new brake systems they tend to use the same parts on as many different models as possible.. Another thought car manufacturers use brake systems built by brake specialists like Bendix and Ferrodo and others so check other makes (dodge, chrylser even the chev range for a possible match of brake assemblies in that year.

1955 ford f100 brake drum wont come off

If you have the wheel off and can turn the drum, if you are screwing the wrong way the drum will stop rotating.
As you have used a lubricant, use copious amounts of brake cleaner or replace the contaminated parts to avoid brake failure!

I have 1972 ford f100 .am trying to remove rear drums

remove brake adjuster plugs from rear of brake back plate. back off brake pads and the drums should slide off. occasionally the drums are groved and rusted so you will need to tap on the drums with a dead blow hammer to help free them up

I have a 1970 Ford pk truck F100 and I am trying to remove the rear brake drum. Cant seem to find a diagram to show me how it comes off. I see two holes that would make one think it needs twisted off. ...

It pulls straight out once the wheel is off. Sometimes there are little flat spring steel clips on one or more wheel studs- look for these before fighting with them.

Sometimes, with drum brakes, they will be worn to where there is a groove in them with a high spot at the inner edge of the bore (next to where the shoes contact the drum). When this is the case it's easiest to back the adjusters off before trying to pull the drum, as the shoes can be adjusted so far out that they won't clear the inner edge of the drum.

Other than that it's just a matter of tapping, wiggling and swearing. You'll get it, no worries.
