have you checked in the door to see if it operates or trying to?

  • rm686 Jan 02, 2011

yes driver door will lock but will not open. passenger door does not work at all

  • rm686 Jan 02, 2011

The car has electric locks. I am thinking the BCM or the power door relay might be bad? First the passanger door stoped working and now the driver side door only opens. I can heat the relay clicking from under the dash when I press the open on the key fob.
The car is a 1999 2 door grand prix gt not a 2000

TURNS OUT REPLACING THE BCM SOLVED ALL THE PROBLEMS. LUCKILY IT WAS PLUG AND PLAY AND I DID NOT HAVE TO GO TO THE STEALERSHIP THE HAVE IT PROGRAMMED. I UNDER STAND THE MODEL YEAR AFTER MINE NEEDS TO BE PROGRAMMED. LUCKY ME.

Try using some spray on lube in and on the lock mechanism, it might just be stuck.

I already did that to both doors and it had no effect.

  • Anonymous Jan 02, 2011

you managed to get the door open and spray lube in it ? replace mechanism

  • rm686 Jan 02, 2011

your second solution is worst than the first. you suggest replacing both locks. The doors work fine with the key. there is nothing wrong with the locks.

  • Anonymous Jan 02, 2011

does the door open ? can you get in ? are you just trying to unlock it ? please be more precise

  • Anonymous Jan 02, 2011

your actuator is not working ? replace it

  • rm686 Jan 02, 2011

the actuator on both doors are bad. Both with in 2 weeks ?

  • Anonymous Jan 02, 2011

they were both installed on the vehicle at plant at the same time, check if there is voltage going to the actuator first

  • Anonymous Jan 02, 2011

your problem is that they don't lock/unlock electrically. the doors open fine mechanicaly

  • rm686 Jan 02, 2011

yes that is the problem. no problem using the key to open and close the doors.

I have a 99 chevy tahoe that will not lock the doors unless I use the keychain remote or puch each lock down, same with unlocking. The lock button on both the driveside and passenger side do not work. Also...

With regards to the lock bittons on the driver and passenger side its the button themselves aka switch(s) that is your culprit. Why because the remote is getting the motor to open and close them . The only thing that doesn't is the buttons /switches themselves .
Now the rear latch a little different animal. Either the locking mechanism on the door itself is defective or the motor ( the thing you hear clicking) is weak.
This one your gonna need a shop manual for to do the correct testing. But being that te remote will not move it and neither will the manual push button I would lean towards the locking mechanism on the hatch/door its self. Use the shop manual its not that bad of a fix if you have a little patience.

The auto-unlock is not functioning, but the auto-lock is.

ok the switch on the drivers side not working is the problem, its not allowing the cicuit to be completed.you may want to check the passenger side lock actuator.

Power door locks dont work

hello on the door locks not working could be a couple problems open the driver side door and were the door hinges are there is a small tube with wires in there that runs from the door into the side of the kick panel inside of the car these wires are your windowns locks and more now were the door open you will have to cut tube with a razr knife so you can see if any of the wires are broken now if there is no wires broken now the power door lock actuators inside the front right-and left door could be bad or the door look swiches this is not unlikey you can check this by removing the door panel you will see a rod or cable going from the door lock down the bottom of the door

now on the key not working that sounds like the door lock rods there that hooks to the lock on the inside of the door is off or one of the plastic clips that hold the rods has broken if it is not locking or unlocking your doors it is not unlikey for both sides to be broken you will have to remove the door panels to check
