99 saturn loud revving sound in engine

Start the car and use a spray bottle to spray a bunch of water mist around the top back of the engine where the intake meets the head. If it starts to die you have an intake manifold leak. It\'s kind of a pain to change, but not really technical. Also, clean your throttle body and clean the idle air controller (IAC). Alos consider replacing the Throttle position sensor (TPS). Both are located on the back of the throttle body.

Revving up and down

Faulty idle air control valve. After you replace it you will need to reset the computer by disconnecting the ground cable on the battery for 30 seconds then re-install it and start it up it should run fine.

My engine revs and trys to take off while i am sitting still, the car would be in drive and my foot on the brake, It revs up and sometimes when i let off the break it surges forward then shuts down in...

The idling may be a loose connection to the "idle air control valve". if the control valve connection is secure, then it could also be a bad Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS). To test the TPS, tap it with a screwdriver while the engine is self-revving, and see if the reving changes when tapped. if its not the TPS, then try cleaning the throttle body.

Replacing TPS cant get it right car keeps revving up and down on 85 celica supra

Hi, if the problem is at idle, it may be caused by a clogged PCV system. The idle controller needs the PCV flow to maintain a steady idle. Remove the PCV valve and hose and clean them with carb cleaner until you can get a good flow thru the system. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

2008 Hyundai Tiburon revving to 7500 rpm while stopped at a light. 5 speed tranny

Get ready to replace the TPS (throttle position sensor).

TPS will act up is it wet or

one of more wire(s) are ground to the frame/engine.

Disconnect, clean and reconnect the TPS sensor.
Disconnect the battery for 4 minutes then reconnect.
Let the computer ECU re-learn the value of the resistance reading.

Is you throttle tension OK when it happen.

Lose throttle cable can also cause the same problem.

1993 ford explorer as soon i start car,on park and nutral engine

This vehicle should be storing a code, take the truck to the advance auto parts store or auto zone and ask to have them hook up a code reader to it this should give you at least a general idea of where to check or replace parts. If the truck is not storing a code I would say it is either the MAF (mass air flow ) sensor or the throttle positioning sensor, but usually when the TPS (throttle position sensor) acts up you will hear a surge in the rpm's, in other words the engine speed will tend to go up then come down go up come down etc.
