If you push the button and it keeps flashing it is in fact not engaged. Usually its just the switch. I replaced mine in my 2000 blazer for 60bucks. If that doesnt fix it your looking at the transfer case module which could run upwards of 1200bucks. Try the switch even a used one or 2 just in case. Steve

When you push the button all its dose is click an wont in gauge

if is the 4 wheel drive, there is an actuator motor on the transfer case.tap it with a small hammer.if it engages, there is a dead spot on the motor armature.check that the contacts on the plug are not oil contaminated.

4 wheel drive will not engage

The engagement piston might be dirty causing it not to fully engage. Also check your linkage on your transfer case.

Front drive, 4 Wheel drive won't engage

that vacume line goes back to the transfer case, the end that goes behind the motor hooks to a steel tube so it does not get hot from the exhaust., my guess it should be hooked up so it will feed vacume to the vacume ball so it can lock in the axels. if you start the car and shift into 4 wheel drive and listen under hood you should hear a hissing sound, that is vacume, if you can't hear it there, you may have to craw under the right side to hear it, probably came unhooked underneith the car
