Sound like you have a problem in the charging system. Usually this is the alternator. Most auto parts stores offer free charging system diagnostics. Don't try to drive very far though as the battery will drain in a very short time. Try to go during the day when you don't need headlights.

Hi, have you checked the alternator? Voltage should be at least 14 volts at battery with engine running. If not, or you don't have a voltmeter, remove the alternator and take to parts store for testing.

Check Charging System/told not the alternator

Check your battery connections - where the cables connect to the battery posts AND where the cables connect to the starter/main power feed and where the ground cable connects to the engine and/or frame. A poor or corroded connection can cause intermittent problems and poor charging performance.

Ford 500 Battery not staying charged.

guess it's been awhile. did you find the problem? Here's a testimonial: my son's 96 chrysler cirrus started needing a boost often to start, so i checked his alternator and it was working good. He only had the car a little while, so i told him to try our other battery cause i thought the one in it might be about ending its life, maybe a bad cell. nope it seems the positive connector on the battery was loose. thats all it took to cause the alternator not to charge the battery sufficiently.. On electrical stuff always check the tightness of the connections.

Most likely you have a bad alternator. The alternator maintains the the charging system. you have the option to remove the alternator and take it to the parts store and have it tested too!.
