Question about Ford F-250 Super Duty

1 Answer

I have a 2000 Ford super duty with a 7.3 litre diesel engine and a 6 speed manual transmission, when I shift gears it feels like the transmission is slipping ( like an automatic would ). Could this be a transmission problem or maybe clutch?

Clutch. Manual transmission has no slip to it. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Please tell me the engine specification of Tata Nexon. Does it is coming in the automatic as well as CNG version in India?

Tata Nexon is the subcompact 4-metre SUV from the Tata Motors, which has created a lot of buzz even before its launch. I don't expect the Tata Nexon gets a CNG kit and it only offered 6-speed manual transmission. Here I specify some of the Tata Nexon specifications, have a look

=> It is available in both the engine. The petrol variants carry 1.2-litre Revotron which produces 110 bhp of power & 15-17kmpl of mileage while diesel have 4-cylinder 1.5-litre Revotorq engine which makes 110 bhp of power & 21-23kmpl mileage.

=> 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, dual front airbags & reverse parking sensors

=> Three drive modes Eco, City and Sport

Transmission not leaving first gear

SOunds like the linkage needs adjusting. If it don't catch until it is in first gear, that is why it isn't shifting. Hopefully adjusting the linkage will allow it to catch in drive and then you will shift fine.

Good Luck

Trying to find out how much oil the Triton V-10 takes when I do my oil change? I cant seem to find it or anyone who knows

It should be listed in the owners manual, but because of different oil cooler setups you may have to do the change yourself and add oil until the correct level is established..... for the first oil change.
Most likely 7 liters, but start with 5,run the engine to fill the oil filter, let it sit for 5 mins and recheck and fill to full.
Note the amount needed for next time.

Ford 1991 super duty speedometer stopped working and transmission wont shift

Sounds like the vehicle speed sensor is not working, or the gear on it is stripped. If you look at the rear housing of the transmission, you will see a black plastic sensor protruding from it with a two wire connector and the speedometer cable attached to it. The sensor might be coming apart or the gear that is driven off the output shaft is stripped. The speed sensor, along with the governor, tell the transmission when to shift. You can remove the sensor by simply taking out the bolt that holds it in. A small bracket around the sensor is secured by this bolt. Carefully look at the nylon gear to see if it is worn through the middle.

Clutch goes to floor and stays

The trick to driving a manual transmission is giving gas very gently while letting the clutch up. The clutch only starts to engage when the pedal is about an inch and a half from the floor, so any gas you give before that will cause unecessary revving.
To get a feel for when the clutch engages, try the following excercise. Put the car in first gear and bring the clutch up ever so slowly without giving gas. At a certain point you will feel the clutch starting to engage and hear a difference in the sound of the engine. If you're bringing the clutch up too fast the car will stall. If you bring it up slowly enough the clutc will start to engage and you will begin to advance.
This excercise will develop your motor skill to manipulate the clutch effectively and will allow you to know exactly when to give gas when letting the clutch up.
