First look for the radio validation code. Just in case.

Use a battery maintainer or 12 volt battery (or even a 9-volt) connected through the lighter socket or onto the special posts within the fuse panel (see instructions above the fuse panel cover) to maintain voltage when you remove the old battery. Maintaining power allows the computer to hold the memory for things like your radio station presets, electric window stops, on-board computer settings, ECU data, the radio security code for early Boxster years, etc. It is more a matter of saving time by not having to reset everything. Disconnect the car from power for more than 30 seconds and you lose these memories and you have to reset the options, reset the radio code, the car has to spend an hour learning its engine settings, and the dealer may have to be visited to reset some options.
Remove the cover from the battery.
Remove the cable clamps from the battery posts.
Climb into the trunk.
Disconnect the vent tube.
Lift the 40 pound battery out.
Clean the cable clamps so they make good contact.
Look at the battery tray and see if it needs cleaning/painting.
Lift the new battery into the trunk and climb in again.
Install the battery on top of the battery tray.
Secure the new battery.
Connect the vent tube.
Put the cover back on.
Remove the battery maintainer or battery you used to retain the radio codes.
Start it up. You may have to get a temporary handle if there is not one already on your battery to help lift it out. These can be found at most automotive stores. They go across the terminals to lift the battery out.

Where are the bolts located to remove starter from 2006 chevy colbalt

I had a suspicion, so I checked. Sure enough, this is one of those fantastically engineered engines with one bolt visible, and the other INSIDE THE FRIGGIN' BELL HOUSING.

Have fun getting to that one. :p

How do I remove the starter motor from a 1993 Ford Fairlane?

  • Use a wrench to loosen the bolt and nut assembly that secures the negative battery cable to the battery, then lift the cable away from the battery.
  • 2 Apply the parking brake and raise the front of the car with a jack, then lower the vehicle onto two jack stands. Place one jack stand on each side of the front of the vehicle, under the frame.
  • 3 Access the starter from underneath the passenger's side of the Falcon. The starter is between the engine and the transmission and looks like a large coffee can.
  • 4 Remove the battery cable from the side of the starter. The cable slides over a threaded stud and is secured with a single nut. Remove the nut with a wrench, then lift the cable away from the starter.
  • 5 Remove the two flywheel-to-starter retaining bolts with a wrench, then pull the starter toward the front of the vehicle to remove it.
  • 6 Position the replacement starter against the flywheel housing, then install and tighten the two flywheel-to-starter retaining bolts with a wrench.
  • 7 Slide the battery cable onto the threaded stud on the side of the starter, then install and tighten the retaining nut with a wrench to secure the cable in place.
  • 8 Lift the vehicle with the floor jack, remove the jack stands, and lower the Falcon to the ground.
  • 9 Position the negative battery cable onto the battery terminal, then tighten the cable into place with a wrench.

How do i proceed to remove 2006 ford focus alternator? Where should I start?

Instead of removing the engine mount, just slide the fan housing (holds the two electric fans) out of the way. You only have to thumb the two top clips open (no tools required), then lift the housing from its lower supports and slide it several inches away from the alternator (really easy to do). This allows plenty of clearance to remove the alternator and replace it.
The hardest part is once the alternator has been disconnected from all its mechanical and electrical connections. It won't come out unless the passenger side engine mount is unbolted ( 3 bolts, 19 mm I think ) and the engine is pried forwards. Once this was done, it would be pretty easy. Don't forget to remove the negative battery terminal before starting.
