The floater gauge is sticking. This is part of the fuel sending unit which has your fuel pump connected to it. Try using a fuel additive like seafoam or chevron techron to see if it frees it up, if not the unit will need to be replaced.

Town and Country Van running out of gas and guage says half a tank what could be the problem?

If your fuel gauge is showing you in accurate readings this is normal to all vehicles that are not used to fill-up gas full regularly but sometimes the cause of the inacuracy is due to faulty float valve in the gas tank you need to replace it

Hello. You may have a problem with the fuel sending mechanism in your gas tank or you may have a fungus in your gas tank which is causing it to show much more fuel than you actually have. Drive to an AAMCO repair shop where they will scan your car's computer for free [some auto parts stores now offer this free as well so call around]. If it is mechanical it should show up on the scan, if not you probably have the gas fungus. Some auto parts stores and dealerships now sell an expensive gas tank additive that will kill that fungus. Gas gauge is not reading correctly. Shows a full

the problem is caused by a defective gas gauge sending unit, this part is located inside the gas tank, you must remove the gas tank to replace it.

We just got a 1988 Porsche and filled with 1/2 tank, there was what seemed like overflow happening - Any idea what may be the problem.

fuel tank vent could be blocked by mud/pebbles etc, not letting the gas fumes escape while your adding fuel making it overflow, check underneath the car near the fuel tank .. something to start with..

1991 geo metro car misses at high rpm

try this first. the older the car; the more problems the ethanol gas is causing. replace the fuel filter. you'll probably see what you think is dirty gas; it is; in a way. it's the ethanol goop that stays and ruins engines, and fuel systems. install the new filter. add a whole can of SEAFOAM to at least a half tank of premium gas. replace fuel filter before next 500 miles.add can of SEAFOAM every 3000 miles after that, and that will clean the valves, the goop, the carbon and keep your tank and lines free of moisture, It might take afew miles(depending on the clogging), but it should work. I hate ethanol gas.

Gas mixed the engine oil and ruined the engine.

The only way I can think of that raw gasoline could get into the oil is at the thottle body. So, the fuel injector or fuel line in the throttle body would be the first place to look if you're sure that it's gas in the oil and not another fluid.
