Keep digging....if you smell antifreeze inside the vehicle....your heater core, the hoses, connections or something is leaking. If the shop you took it to cant find a problem...they either dont want to mess with it....or are not qualified to work on your vehicle. Take it to another shop.

Hi, Have you checked the cabin air filter to see if it is wet, and did they pressure test cooling system for any leaks. The reason i ask is if you have any leaks you will smell it when you turn on heater, because the heater recirculate the air from outside and its getting the smell from engine compartment. If heater core not leaking. Lots of time if heater core is leaking it does come out of drain hole for a/c. Check and make sure the passenger side carpet is not wet,or pull carpet and pad back to make sure its not draining under pad. If i can help you anymore feel free to re post.
Thanks dodge tec

How to check for leaks of antifreeze/in 97 expedition smell of antifreeze

Hi Sharlene,so you smell antifreeze.Raise your hood and check your antifreeze over flow container, you should have a l and a h mark on it,high and low.If low, then it's leaking somewhere, look at the radiator cap and overflow hose for leak, look at over flow container for leak from hose going to it from radiator, look all over engine, look at top and bottom radiator hoses and clamps for leaks,if leaking there, tighten clamp with flat head screw driver,if no leak is found, get under vehicle and see if any antifreeze is visible, maybe water pump, look on ground for leak and follow, check floor board on driver side, heater core could be bad, check hoses going to heater core from engine firewall.

My truck passger side floor is wet

Can you tell if the wetness is coolant/antifreeze or just water? If it is antifreeze/coolant then it is most likely caused by the heater core which is on the passensenter side of the vehicle. If it is fresh water, it is most likely caused by your drain (under the windshield) being clogged up and allowing the water from the drain to get into the fresh air intake and drain onto your floor boards.

I have an 1999 chrysler 300m an it has an overheating problem. There is also water all over the driver side floor (front n back) it is soaked. It takes about 25mins b4 it starts smoking. Can som1 plz help...

Typically if your leaking coolant inside the car, it indicates your heater core is split and leaking. Replacing the heater core is quite the job. It requires removal of the dash board and heater box. i replaced one in a 97 Cirrus at work last week and it was a 6 hour job. If your not mechanically inclined i would definitley recomend phoneing around for quotes to local auto repair shops and getting it done profesionally.

Heater core

If anti-freeze is actually coming out of the drain tube then yes, you could very well have a bad heater core. You may also be able to smell antifreeze while inside the vehicle if it is leaking. [Its a kind of sickly sweet smell] If just clear water is dripping out then this is most likely from normal condensation that is collecting and dripping off of the air conditioning evaporator core as the air conditioner runs. This condensation collects in the heater, a/c housing then drips out of the same little drain. Water from normal condensation will evaporate off of cement or pavement pretty quickly but antifreeze takes quite a while to evaporate away and feels slimy to the touch. It doesn't take much of an antifreeze leak before the cooling system gets low on so make sure you don't run low on coolant which can cause the engine to overheat.

Either its the heater core or the thermostat

your heater core is definitley leaking and your blower is pushing the vapor into the cabin. It will only get worse. You can minimize the smell by not running your heater or defroster, but you wont prevent the coolant from leaking and potentially getting worse. Sorry to say, the core will need pulled and repaired or replaced. Sometimes stop leak additives will solve the problem if its not too severe. I have never been a fan of them, its only a band aid in my view. also if u got pets afoid leeting they smell the antifreeze very toxic can kill pets easily. hope this helps. rate above 4* cheers

Floors in the front are wet and the car is starting to smell

Three possibilities--the windshield is leaking water, the heater core is leaking antifreeze (should smell like antifreeze), or the air conditioner evaporator (near the heater core) has a plugged drain tube and the water condensed out of the warm air is running back into the cab. Hope this helps!

2002 Diamnte does not defrost, smells like antifreeze

If you are smelling antifreeze then there is going to be a leak.
Look at the drain hole for the A/C drain pan. You may not be seeing it because it is mixing with the condensation from the evaporator. Sounds like a heater core or hose connection at the heater core.
Good Luck
