Hi this could be due to a stuck switch, look under the dashboard where the brake peddle is you should see a switch with 2 wires on it, this could be a plunger type or a leaver type switch, check to see if the plunger or leaver is either stuck or broken this will cause this, if its just stuck, pull the wires off ( these are in a plug) unscrew the switch from the holder, lubricate the plunger or switch till it works ok, then replace it, adjust as necessary hope this helps

Check the brake light switch. It must be stuck. It is located just above the brake pedal and gets pressed whenever the brake pedal is depressed. You should be able to find it easily with a flashlight. It is the only thing electronic connected to the brake pedal.

Abs light stays on and brake light on 98 durango

The regular brake warning light is for the parking brake being applied or the brake fluid is low. You would need to get the abs system scanned for trouble codes to proceed.

Brake lights stay on

The warning light on the dash, or the brake lights in the back of the car ? ?
The brake fluid could be low or the parking brake switch could be faulty if the warning light is on.
The brake light switch on the pedal could be faulty if the brake lights are staying on.

Break lights stay on when car if off

I had this same problem. I turned off my car and the brake lights stayed on. I looked under the dash and found that the brake pedal, when not pressed, barely touched the brake light switch, which controls whether the brake lights are on or off. Initially though I just wedge a thin piece of adhesive foam between the pedal and switch, which worked fine for several months until I found the time to properly fix it. My brake light switch was adjustable so i eventually adjusted the nuts on each side of the brake switch holding it to the pedal bracket so that the brake pedal pushed in the white brake light switch when released. Hope this helps!

We have an Audi TT and the brake lights stay on after you turn the car off. Also noted that a passing car informed us that the brake lights stay on while driving as well. Could this possible be a switch...

If all the brake lights stay on then the brake light switch is the first thing to check. It cod also be dagger wiring to the switch or it may just be loose and/or out of place.

Brake light stays on just happened 143000 miles

Check your brake switch as it could be faulty hence causing a close circuit which in turn causes the brake light to stay on.It is normally located at the top of the brake pedal.Hope this helps.

Tail light stays on (brake)

If brake lights remain on then inspect brake light switch. Brake light switch is located on top of brake pedal arm bracket. It is either out of adjustment or faulty.
