You can locate the horizontal fuel-conditioning module (HFCM) mounted to the frame rail underneath the driver's seat. Place a drain pan under the HFCM. Turn the fuel drain lever outwards and let the HFCM drain into the pan until clean fuel is observed coming from the module, then close the drain lever.

I have heard of people having to do this 2 or 3 times over the course of a week to get the light to remain off.

It may be a good idea to replace the filter element while you are in there as follows:

  1. Remove the fuel-filter lid from the HFCM with an adjustable wrench turned in a counterclockwise direction. Place the lid aside. Pull the old fuel filter from the HFCM and clean the filter mating surfaces with a clean rag.

  2. Insert a new filter element into the HFMC until it is fully seated. Remove the old "O" ring gasket from the fuel-filter lid and discard it. Stretch a new "O" ring gasket (included with a new fuel filter) over the lid and work it into the groove. Lubricate the gasket with clean diesel fuel applied with your finger. Tighten the cap in a clockwise direction onto the HFCM with an adjustable wrench. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.

  3. Open the hood and remove the fuel-filter housing lid on top of the engine with an adjustable wrench turned in a counterclockwise direction. Lift the old fuel-filter element from the housing and clean the filter mating surfaces with a clean rag.

  4. Push a new filter element into the housing until it is fully seated. Replace the "O" ring gasket on the lid in the same fashion as the HFCM fuel-filter lid and lubricate with diesel fuel. Screw the lid back on and tighten with an adjustable wrench. Close the hood.

Where safety goggles and gloves and good luck.

My car vw caddy overheated due to water pump not working properly and the engine is not starting anymore what should Ido

Pressure test the radiator to test for water leaks, remove the spark plugs and do a dry compression test and record readings, Then do a wet test by adding a teaspoon of engine oil to each cylinder in turn and record readings, all cylinders in dry and wet tests should be within 25 psi of each other, any low cylinder that does nor increase with the wet test could have a ring or valve fault, if it does not pass this test it needs a engine rebuild. if ok check for fuel and ignition faults.

Have water in fuel Suzuki xl7 how do I drain the tank

no year, huh? some years have a check valve , there,....
this forum is for usa cars, is car USA car?
the tanks just dont like siphoning. (check valve)
the FSM covers this , in the fuel section under bad pump.
1998 to 2006, ill guess, 06

i have the FSM and does not cover. bad fuel, no drain plug.

it shows how to get fuel lower, in filler neck
the tank has check valve at it its metal neck.
so inserting a hose in filler, will hit this check valve.
and all you get out , is 1/2 fuel.
id use the tank out procedure.
then empty all fuel, after step 5.
quote:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Relieve fuel pressure in fuel feed line.
  3. Due to absence of fuel tank drain plug, drain fuel tank by pumping fuel out through fuel tank filler.
  4. Use hand operated pump device to drain fuel tank.
  5. Remove fuel tank.

tip tank to drain the remainder. out

here is one more way. (IDEA!)
do 1-4
then tip car to left. Jacks then stands at frame.
then remove the filler hose on tank
remove that pesky check valve. from neck last.

and pump out the rest.

Falcon is not firing on no.1

Assuming it is getting fuel to the cylinder, and the ignition timing is correct.....

1. Check for spark. (could be a bad spark plug). I have seen plugs that will fire outside of the cylinder, but not when installed. check carefully.
2. If there is spark, get a compression tester. remove the spark plug, replace with the tester, crank the engine a few revolutions. record the reading.
3. Remove the tester and squirt some oil into the cylinder, replace tester and crank engine again - record the result.
4. If step one reads zero...you have a burned exhaust valve or a hole in the piston, unless it is a blown head gasket which usually means there is water in the oil or visa versa. Or...if the head gasket is blown between cylinders, (no oil in water or water in the oil), then you need to do step 1 on the cylinder next to the bad cylinder. It should have a low or zero reading also.
5.If step 1 is a low reading (not zero) and step 2 INCREASES the reading. This means the rings for that cylinder are worn out and the engine should be overhauled.
6. If step 2 does not increase the reading of step 1 and it remains low (not zero), this indicates a leaking or partially burned exhaust valve.

Location of heater control valve

car has 4 engines and one diesel , post your engine.
some (many) have no such thing.
if doing DIY,
go to alldata dot com and read. its all there.

on most cars its a flap that covers the heater coil an the coolant runs full time. not saying yours is, as

my 04 has a valve,
its is a vacuum operated valve.
here is the preamble in the above stated links.

  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2. Remove the access panel nut near the pollen filter.
  3. Remove the access panel.
  4. Remove the following components from the hot water flow control valve:
    • The vacuum hose
    • The remaining hose clamps
    • The remaining hoses
  5. Remove the hot water flow control valve.

i see some 1500 have aux heaters, Im not sure about that.
too lazy to read whole cooling section.

We just had a major storm i think maybe moister got in gas tank i was wondering if a can of dry gas would work

they have additives that remove water from fuel,, however that depends on how much water your talking about, if your sure this is the problem,, I'd drain the tank, and start new if you suspect a bunch of water got in,, you might also check the distributor cap for moisture in there, that causes missing and bad running also

On a 1989 GMC 2500 pickup. Put fuel system cleaner, Truck hardley runs and sputters when I drive. I have changed the fuel filter. Any advice?

Possibly has water in the fuel. Pick up a bottle of heet water remover from your parts house and see if this helps. Also make sure you are getting enough fuel to the engine. Find the serator valve on the fuel rail going to the throttle body. Push in the the valve and see if it sprays fuel or just trickles it out. If you have a fuel pressure tester make sure you are getting around 40-50 psi at the valve. If you are not then the fuel pump is going out.
