The power steering pulley is removed by obtaining a power steering pulley puller, that grab's on the raised lip on the center of the front of the pulley, the puller has a threaded shaft that presses against the center shaft of the power steering pump while pulling the pulley in the opposite direction.in addition to install the pulley requires a special installer that thread's into the center of the power steering pump and on the threaded shaft that screw's into the power steering pump is a type of a nut with a washer that pushes against the pulley and pull at the shaft of the power steering pump. hold this helps, thanks for using fixya

You need a power steering pulley puller. This is about the least expensive one that you will find:

Be careful not the bend the pulley as they are $100-200 for a replacement! Soak the center shaft with a quality penetrating oil like Kroil or PB Blaster for a day or two before.

I installed a new powersteering pump on a 88 gmc k1500, now it eats serpentine belts cant get the pullies lined up right how do i fix?

I would install a reman pump,never try & remove a pully
The pump wasn't the problem

Your problem is most likely that the crank damper has
worn & moved. The rubber in it is the issue & it is hard
to see any misalignment

Im having trouble getting my water pump off on my 1995 pontiac bonneville i have 7/8 bolts off i have one that is stuck benind the power stearing pully

The powersteering pully may have to come off. Do this by unbolting the powersteering bracket and gently moving it aside.

This is the best way to move it out of the way. Makes sure the hoses on the powersteering unit are not kinked in this process. If need be, use some small rope or twine or even a metal coat hanger to tie it upward to keep the lines straight.

Please, let me know if you need further assistance.
