The P0340 is a camshaft sensor code, the sensor is located in the front (passengers ) side of the engine, there should be two sensor's one for each camshaft, (front of each head) defective cam sensor's can cause the the problems of stalling and hard starting. I am a Nissan certified tech and replaced a good number of cam sensors in the past, they are quit easy to replace, they are attached by one ten millimeter headed bolt (per sensor) remove the bolt then work the sensor clockwise and counter clockwise while pulling out, there is a o ring seal on the sensor and when installing the new one lightly lube o ring before installing, then install sensor and be sure it fully seated against the mounting surface before installing the bolt or you will break the mounting ear of your new sensor. thanks for using fixya

I have a nissan murano 2005 with the code p1701 and a p0340 how can i use them to repair these codes

Nissan Murano P0340 2005 Nissan Murano - Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit
Possible causes- Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor-
Camshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted- Camshaft Position Sensor circuit poor electrical connection- Faulty starter motor- Starting system circuit-
Dead (Weak) battery
P1701- Fuel trim

I would suggest replacing the camshaft position sensor. When the sensor fails it can cause changes in fuel system that the computer can detect. So I suspect once the camshaft sensor ivreplaced that the P1701 code will be gone.

You need to have the transmission check for codes and operation concerns.

2004 Nissan Murano SL periodically wont start.

Sounds like the camshaft sensor is on the way out , the computer needs this info. to set the correct timing. once found the engine starts and is ok till the next start.

Please check your solenoid switch on starter motor. You should hear click sound while you try start the engine (You may need another person help to do this). If no sound at all, the problem is there and need to fix / replace.

My Nissan Murano thumps anytime i stopped what it means?

engine mounts may be worn or broken.. check by holding down brake pedal while pushing on gas in gear to see if engine lifts/falls. Check all suspension components for wear or damage.
