How do I know if my rear drum needs to be turnned/machined?

You can tell by looking at them, as well
as how many miles are on them

You decide when you want to turn them, if you
do your own work or install new shoes

Hopefully you take all your brakes apart once a
year, for rust removal, lube & inspection

How do i change my rear hubs

Loosen the rear lug nuts, jack up the car, remove the rear wheels, remove the brake drums, remove the brake shoes and hardware, remove the 4 bolts holding the hubs in. Bolt in the new hubs, reassemble the brake shoes and hard ware, put the brake drums on, put the wheels on and snug the lug nuts, lower the car, tighten the lug nuts.

How do you change rear drum brakes for a 1996 mazda protege? I cannot remove rear drum brakes.

If the rear drums are seized you will need to tap on the sides with a hammer while rotating the drum, this will loosen the hardware inside and allow it to come off.

If it is the shoes that will not come off, you need to find the spring and retainer that hold them on and disconnect them.

96 toyota tercel rear brake repair Can't get the brake drum off to replace the linings

They tend to get really stuck, especially if they haven't been changed in a while. A few raps with a hammer on all sides will usually get the job done. Best of luck.

Unable to pull off the housing cover to change my rear brakes for a 1997 toyota tercel

I'm assuming by 'housing cover' you're referring to the drum itself...sometimes it helps to remove the rubber plug from the backing plate and maually loosen the automatic adjuster to release the tension from the shoes. I know this next suggestion may seem like a silly reminder, but I mention it only because I've done it myself...be sure the parking brake isn't engaged.

1996 toyota corolla rear drum brake (Australia)

to remove a stuck brake drum what I do is. there is a couple of holes in the drum a size 10mm nut screw hole. get two 10mm bolts screw it in the two OPPOSITE holes and screw in at the same time until the drum is free. we call this screws extractor. Check for any damage in the shoe and other parts because you are force extracting the drum
