Brake fluid is down after putting fluid in and brakes are to the floor but am still able to stop

Hole in brake line and possible need new brakes put mre fluid in and have someone looking under the car while you step on the brake peddle should be able to see where it is leaking right a way

Sounds like your brake fluid is low. Make sure your master brake cylinder is full of brake fluid and check all the brake lines from the master cylinder to all four wheels and check all four wheels for fluid leaking. You should see wet areas if there is a leak. If there are no leaks you could have a bad brake cylinder its self.

Brakes will not bleed, air in lines, not getting fluid to brakes


check the brake booster a lot of times they will leak on the inside of the firewall and run down under the carpet inseide look under the dash where the brake pedal rod goes thru the fire wall and see if there is and brake fluid coming thru
to bleed brakes by myself i use a bottle of brake fluid and get a hose the size of the bleeder on the brakes and put the hose over it and put the other end in the brake fluid open the bleader a little and pump the brakes air goes out and it will pull the fluid back in

once it goes all the way to floor its too late to put in fluid. have it looked at now. it will have air in lines or bad leak.

2003 chevy impala brake pedal goes to floor when sitting at a complete stop


First, check your brake fluid levels, if it is low then that enplanes your problem. Also, when was the last time you had the brakes changed? if the are worn down, then this will also cause a low fluid level. if the brakes are fine and the fluid level is good and you still have the same issue, then your problem is probably your master cylinder. Brake boosters hardly ever go bad.

Brake pedal goes down to the floor to make it stop


check first the brake fluid reservoir to see if it is full, then bleed the brakes if the petal will not come up.

While driving the !P Brake light came on and now brake pad only stops when pushed all the way down to the floor.


First check your brake fluid level...this is the first symptom of low brake fluid pressure...If the fluid is still full, then no brake pedal pressure means bad master cylinder...or leak in brake lines or connections...should be able to trace...Not a fun problem...safe brakes are a priority...hopefully just low fluid...fill to full mark...:)

What are the proper steps to bleeding your brakes on a 1990 vw golf deisel


For left hand drive vehicles: (If the car does not have ABS system you do not need any diagnostic equipment!)

IMPORTANT NOTE: You need using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car in order to bleed the ABS block. Follow instructions by scantool equipment for bleeding the ABS block.


1. This bleeding procedure requires two people. Remove the brake system reservoir cap, and fill up with new brake fluid until "MAX" level is reached.
2. Lift the car, or use a channel for access under vehicle.
3. Put the gearbox in "N" - Neutral position, or in "P" - Parking position for automatic transmission.
4. Start the engine and push the brake pedal firmly for 4 - 5 times to the floor, and maintain the brake pedal pushed to the floor.
5. Begin with the rear right wheel. Another person remove the dust cap and loose the brake caliper bleeding screw until the brake pedal goes to the floor. At this moment maintain the brake pedal pushed to the floor, engine idling, and tight the brake caliper bleeding screw. Use a plastic hose: one end connected to the brake caliper bleeding screw, and another end inside a recovery bottle for used brake fluid.
6. Repeat steps no.#4 and no.#5 until no air flows through the brake caliper bleeding screw. Tight the brake caliper bleeding screw, and put the dust cap in their place.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All the time check the brake fluid level in the brake system reservoir, and fill up if necessary!

17. Test the car brake system. The brake pedal movement no more than 1/3 of total stroke until the floor, when brake pedal is applied. Maximum admissible is 1/2 of total stroke.

Brake to the floor in order to stop. they are new


make sure the rear shoes are manually adjusted up properly ,then is still no good renew the master cylinder because the seal between the front and rear chambers could have gone ,but i do feel that you should manually adjust the rear brakes up properly,slacken handbrake cable before you do this though

Brake pedal goes down to floor. Putting brake fluid doesn't solve problem. Vehicle must coast to a complete stop.


First look for obvious leaks under the vehicle, especially the inside area of each wheel... If you see fluid, you have either a blown cylinder seal or a bad line (check the rubber hoses to the front and back brakes too) Repair the offending part and bleed the air out of the system... (remember to clean pads or shoes if they have fluid on them)... If you see no hint of leakage anywhere, then suspect the master cylinder... if you remove the master cylinder, check and make sure that it didn't leak fluid into the brake booster diaphragm (Brake fluid will destroy the booster)... as in any repair when you open the system (lose fluid), you will need to bleed out the air to restore function... hope this helps...;-)
