I have 92 gmc 2500 700r4 trans the troque converter will lock in and out going down the road

Try flushing it and changing the filter.By flushing it I mean to have ALL the fluid changed,not just the 5 quarts that drains out of pan.

2001 ford ranger 3.0 auto trans swap out with a 2002 auto trans


On Chevy transmissions there is, on the input shaft, there are two (2) little tabs at the 12 and 6 O'clock position or 180 degrees from one another. When installing the transmission these can often break leaving the transmission useless. It will need to be taken apart and checked on. If it is broken then you can easily replace it from a junkyard trans. (just look forward to a day in the yard tearing apart a transmission) and replace it accordingly.
Keep in mind when reinstaling the replaced transmission, that you HAVE to line these up by spinning the Torque Converter untill it slips on easily. otherwise it will just break again.

92 olds ciera. transmission is stuck in overdrive and will not shift down when slowing down and sometimes dies when stopping. What is wrong with it?


torque converter clutch solenoid is not releaseing lock up. caused this to happecn. does this vehicle transmission have a vacuum modulator on the side of transmission case? below front side left center of trans case.

Sounds like the transmission is burnt up. You will have to get a rebuild or a used one from a junk yard.

1998 Yukon high idle sound with bad gas mileage.


What you have is the torque converter clutch,cycling on and off.
When it is off.your rpm will go up and your milage will go down
First-check to see if your brake switch, on the back of the brake peddle, is loose or misadjusted. When you apply the brakes,the first thing to happen, is that you unlock the converter,so your trans is not connected directly to the motor,or you would stall. Then below 42 MPH,your trans is working off the converter, as a pressure multiplier ,based on rpm
Second- switch okey. You remove trans pan and change TCC Solenoid.

Check engine code 1870p on gmc safari.. what does it mean?


THis code its a trans or torque converter slip code. It means that your torque converter is not locking up tight

How do you find out if the transmission in a 2004 chevrolet malibu classic is bad or not or if it is the troque converter


It isn't the torque converter. If it was the converter, it wouldn't back up either. So it won't move forward in any position right? To get the cv shaft out are you putting a prybar between the trans case and the shaft and trying to pry it out?

Still sounds like a transmission problem. Especially if it is revving up that high on RPM's and going no where. Sounds like slipping or something in transmission. Could be torque converter.

Computer is telling trnny to shift when it shouldn't


you have a mechanical fault in the trans or a poss shift solenoid issue, most tranny shops will road test the truck for free and give you an estimate and prelimiary estimate.

4R100 sometimes won't move in reverse


well have it flushed troque converter and everything and put new fluild in it and see sometimes that is all it needs .How many miles on it .and 3200 is high try a speciaty shop for a better price .see a flush is 200-300 comepared to a rebuild .could be a dirty filter .
