Might look for a vacuum leak somewhere in the intake system. A vacuum leak can cause a lean air / fuel mixture, which will cause the engine to operate at a higher than normal temperature. In an extreme enough situation, this could lead to a cat "meltdown" as you have mentioned.

Can you hear a hissing sound when you have the hood up?

02 s 60 p2177-po500 engine wont rev over 2000rpm ,pulled out 02 sensor made no difference?

code p 1077 refers to system too lean off idle --bank 1 ====causes --fuel pressure ---injectors--intake leak
also refers to adaptive heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) control bank 1--signal high====causes ---wiring--short to positive ---HO2S---ECM
The HO2S is the sensor in the exhaust manifold before the cat converter and is responsible for setting the mixture

code p 0500 refers to the Vehicle speed sensor (VSS)---circuit malfunction====causes --wiring ---VSS--- ECM
replace the VSS

"high rpm no power"

More detail would help, such as what are you working on, and fuller description of symptoms. If you are saying that as the engine revs, power seems to drop off, there are many possibilities. Clogged exhaust system (think bad cat converter), or bad ignition module (they have a low speed section and a high speed section), inadequate fuel delivery, gas pedal not opening throttle all the way, or if your vehicle is "fly-by wire", bad gas pedal section.

2004 jetta will crank and run but will not rev up acts like catalytic converter stopped up but it is not. Could it need a new from fuel filter?

Look at all data & road test

That way you see if emission monitors run

You see what the fuel trim & oxygen sensors
are doing

Could be the cat is ruined,so then you have to
get rid of cylinder misfires or vacuum leaks, whatever
took it out,then replace it

You own the vehicle, so you know if the fuel filter is in there
more than 3 or 4 years

You got a blocked converter,no fuel control & have to check
fuel pressure & a dozen other probably neglected items

What are the signs when you need to replace a catalytic converter on a hyundai sonata 2001

When the engine runs out puff at high revs (blocked exhaust system)--- when the cat converter rattles when bumped Cracked and falling apart)-- when the fault codes refer to o2 sensor faulty ( too much back pressure). These are some indicators of a failed converter.

Codes 0171 0174, 0316,0430

code p0171 refers to system too lean bank 1 causes---intake exhaust leak--- AIR system----MAF?VAF sensor fuel pressure/ pump injectors HO2S
code p0174 refers to System to lean bank 2 causes the same except Maf and vaf are not mentioned and hose connections are added
code p0316 refers to misfire detected at star up first 1000 revs causes ---engine mechanicval fault---wiring---ignition/ fuel system--injector
code p0430 refers to cat convertersystem bank 2-- effeciency below threshold causes ----cat converter--- wiring ----HO2S. Personally I would chewck the cat converter first as if it is blocking the exhaust system the ret of the sensors will have irregular readings.

2007 F350 4X4 front brakes are dragging, has produced heat high enough to melt the seals on the calipers. What can cause this issue. Brake pedal is normal, no warning lights are on, rear brakes appear to...

Well, it can be the caliper itself sticking, or it could be defective brake hoses. If it is affecting both sides equally, then it could even be a defective brake master cylinder or a malfunctioning Antilock Brake unit. To hep determine what the cause is, jack the vehicle up and make sure it is properly supported. Remove the front wheels. Get in the vehicle and start the engine. Press HARD on the brake pedal, then shut the engine off and get out and check to see if you can turn the wheel hubs by hand. If they will not move, open the brake bleeder on the caliper and see if brake fluid squirts out under pressure and see if this causes the brakes to release. If they still won't move you need to replace your calipers. If they release, then I would try replacing the rubber brake hoses to the calipers. (They can collapse internally and keep the calipers applied - you cannot see this by visual inspection.) If replacing the hoses does not make the vehicle pass the test above, then you need to have your ABS Module and your Master Cylinder tested.

My catalytic converrters is getty red

Please be careful if your converter is heating up. The converter maybe malfunctioning or it could be clogged. Nevertheless, take it to a mechanic because you have rubber hosing under your hood and you do not want the heat from the converter to start melting those hoses. The hoses are designed to take high temperatures in fluids, but not high temperatures in heat. Have a mechanic check out your car ASAP.

Starts just fine but dies at idle. will keep running when stepp[ng on gas pedal

if the car runs fine at high revs, I suggest just turning the idle revs up 150ish, it could be a block cat converter, or restricted airflow making it die. but quick fix turn revs up 150rpm will do no harm and if it dies at higher revs, take it 2 the garage to see if they can find the thing.

My jeep will not accelerate when it is in gear. it does start and run good while its in park. it will sputter and seems to back fire

cat converter is going bad. have someone rev engine and feel for pressure at tailpipe. i am willing to bet its restricted. did you have the egr fail code? egr valves hardly ever go bad. a bad cat converter will not allow for normal aceleration, even with the pedal to the floor.
