Question about 1999 Ford Ranger SuperCab
At the transmission end there should be a groove in the shaft and a ring that rides in it. When the proper pressure is exerted it will collapse into the groove and allow the shaft to come out. On the wheel end there is a large nut that has a good amount of torque to hold it on.
