What is causing it to cut out?

Could be just a dirty idle air control motor, which can be cleaned sometimes. Your shop manual should tell how.

325ci engine stalls

It may be worth checking the throttle pot for consistancy in its resistance reading from idle to full throttle. Ive had one of these fail with a dead spot just off idle. This caused the ecu to loose coms for a short while and stalled the car. Also the idle stab gets confused when this happens. This was on a 320 though but might be worth a look. Do the test with the plug disconnected and the engine & ignition off.

HOW TO SET U PDRAUGHT CARB ON A BRIGGS STRATTON ENGINE MODEL 80102

Hi Dawber, I believe if I was working on your engine the first thing I would check is the ignition timing, in other words the point setting if fitted, Set the points at point four five millimeter and then try again. If your engine is fitted with electronic ignition, very very slowly tighten the idle mixture control screw and if the machine slows down screw very very outwards until the idle becomes as smooth and even as possible. Once you are close to the optimum, follow the same procedure back and forth until you have the optimum setting. Regards John

Erratic idle on tick over or when slowing to a stop

I assume petrol? If yes then it sounds like the idle control valve, these are common on VAG

Just service the car, change plugs, but the engine tends to cut out more in the morning. I have now been advised to change plug leads, daewwod. tacuma 2001, 69000 miles, please can anyone advised asap...

Try also checking the motor's temperature sensor. May it sending wrong info to the ECU. If the car "cuts"due to erratic slow running may also check the "air valve" tha controls the iddle. vmossmann from Brazil.

Ford tick over problem

The battery could be slightly weak, making the computer go on the fritz, try a fresh battery!!!! The rev counters bounce often with a weak battery.

Leave feedback good or bad.

Erratic idle speed

Have the fuel pressure checked. Could be an erratic pump or pressure regulator.
