Question about 1999 Chrysler LHS

Just replaced the thermostate because the heater was cool. now it is running hot. do i have a air pocket or possibly a bad thermostate

You need to have the all the air out of the system and see whats happens and also could be a bad Thermostat as you should test it before use. Good luck

Why isn't the heat hot on my 1998 Ford explorer?

There a a couple of possibilities

1. The thermostat is stuck open. This can usually be veried by looking at the temp gauge. If it is not about half when after the engine has had enough time to fully warm up than I would suspect a bad thermostat.

2. the coolant level is too low. The highest point in the cooling system is the heater core. If the coolant level falls to low the heater core will not get enough hot coolant to function properly.

3, the heater core is plugged. Proper cooling system maintenance will remove much of the debris that ends up in the cooling system. If this service has been neglected this debris will settle in the heater core. Over time it will build up to the point that hot coolant can not flow through the entire heater core resulting in less than adequate or no heat.

4. The last possibility (and the least likely) is that you have a head gasket failure. The air that gets pushed into the cooling system will cause an air pocket in the heater core restricting the coolant from entering.

My engine is running hot.I replaced the thermostate and now I do not have heat coming outta my heater and it still is running hot

Did you get all of the air pockets out of the cooling system after replacing the thermostat ? Is the radiator and overflow tank full ?

Air bubbles in the coolant system causing the car to run hot

If you are seeing air bubbles, then the cooling system still has air pockets in it. Loosen the overflow cap and leave it that way for a few days while you drive.Keep the heater turned on at the max heat level. Roll a window down if necessary. Check and top up the overflow bucket daily and top up as necessary. The bubbles should disappear after a few days, then you can tighten the cap. This should also solve your no heat problem. Once the bubbles are gone you can tighten the cap.

If the problem doesn't fix itself in a week, you should have the car looked at for a possible bad head gasket, which would force air into the cooling system. Hope this helps.

replace the thermostant again this time get a hotter temp thermostant and buy it from the dealer, the other thing is that these cars are known for the temp sensors being bad this would give you the false reading on the gauge but would not affect the heat, if its taaking a long time then i would replace the stant and this time or before replacing the stant i want you to flush out the heater core, remove the hoses from the heatercore and use a water hose to flush water through the heater core, a plugged core will not throw heat or will start to allow water to flow when it gets good and hot to flow through the retricted core due to rust and crud, try the flush first and then try a new temp sensor if the flush helps the heat, hope this is helpful good luck.

I just reapir the overheating problem on my 2001 chevy silverado 5.3 2wd. I am still is full of coolant...reservour is still at the fill line with GM dexcool coolant. The problem to begin...

If it overheated i would replace the thermostant and gasket, also make sure its full of coolant, after replacing the thermostat you may have air in system so let it run until stat opens it may boil over a little until stat opens then it will **** coolant into block when that happens fill with coolant, you will need to let it idle for a while before new stat opens, hope this helps, good luck, i think the stat went bad the first time it overheated.

Car run hot possible radiator got a hole and/or water pump coing bad.put water in it...water blows back at you.change thermo stat.

it cant be hot when you do it . you have to start the filling prosess when its will get a air pocket that wont go away. air pocket causes steam. you have to fill as the car warms up.

02 Infiniti I-35 3.5 heater air not hot enough...had system flushed and new themostat..vents and blower motor working fine.

Make sure that the radiator fan is going off like it is suppose too. Also, some vehicles have a shut off on the water inlet hose to by-pass the heater core for the A/C when it is running in the summer. This could be malfunctioning.

My heater is not working in my 2001 honda civic. Is it my thermostat?

Does the heater blow cold air from the vents or do you mean the there is no airflow from the vents? cold air from the dash vents when the heater control valve is set fully hot could be an air pocket in the cooling system. The radiator sits slightly lower than the engine causing air pockets to get trapped in the engine when you replace the coolant. you'll have to purge the cooling system to restore flow to the heater core. No airflow (blower motor inop) this could be a bad blower motor transistor. pin test the blower motor circuit.

Overheating and no hot air from heater.

Leave rad cap off when starting from cold, turn heater(not defrost) on, and top up coolant in rad as you go, to about an inch or 2 from top of rad. Let engine run with cap off until your rad fan comes on & off 3 or 4 times. Every once in a while, rev engine slightly for 5-10 seconds to help bleed air out faster. After about 3 or 4th time fan comes on, you should be o.k. to put cap back on all the way & fill bottle to proper level. Heat should be there now. Give it a try & let me know how it goes.
