Question about 1994 Toyota Pickup

1 Answer

I am having the same problem that (By jbtn2000 on Mar 09, 2010) Engine loses power on hills, the more the accelerator is pushed the weaker it gets. I took mine to auto repair shop and they told me that his scanner would not read any codes from truck. So he told me the computer was out. Is this a possibility? Does the computer have to be tightened tight (for grounding purposes?). Cause it is shaking loose. Please help!

I appreciate the solution. I will try removing the o2 sensor and see if that tells me something. The mechanic told me that his scanner could not pull any codes from the truck so he told me I needed a new computer. Can I rule out my problem being from a faulty computer? Thanks for support!

No the computer has its own ground is one of those white with black strips wires, sound like an exhaustad obstruction, or bad coil, the spark has to be strong and blue, not orange.
Also remove the o2 sensors and drive vehicle if recover power then there is an obstruction.

If your mechanic have the compression done and is ok.

If your mechanic did all the resistance checks at the distributor, ( that use to be a common problem).

If the fuel pressure is ok.

The job of the computer is base and sensor inputs calculate injector pulse with, and spark timing if one of this is off and the sensor for this items check ok, then you can blame the computer.

In my experience 75% the computer as remedy to a car problem is always a sign that the mechanic is giving up.

in toyota when the computer are bad there is a sign; the check engine light really dim in the background, you can disconnect sensors and the computer do not detect them, and the classic no communication with the scanner.

1968 pickup? what?
2012, Toyota updated Toyota Hilux Vigo "Champ"?
what year, no year no joy,
what engine, no engine option stated, so no possible exact answers.
if wanting dead accurate answers, WHAT COUNTRY?
upgrade = tuneup = doing all 60k service points?

now in the generic.
if it misfires, it can be bad spark, (engine shakes)
if it only bogs. its bad fueling
bad fueling means, bad carb.
if modern car, bad fueling means EFI problems.
do tell year,
do tell engine. (cylinder count and displacment)
or pick one out here.

Mazda 323 fuel injection1994 accelerator problem

Try changing the fuel filter. If it clogs up the engine won't get the fuel it needs to run at wide throttle openings, the engine will ****** the timing, and you'll lose power. With less throttle the filter can flow well enough for the engine to run properly.

1994 toyota 4x4 22re loses power when you push gas pedal or going up hill and the valves start to rattle then

I suspect your ignition timing is too advanced and the rattling sound is actually detonation (VERY VERY bad for your engine). Have your ignition timing set and your valves adjusted.
