Its because your alternator is a 80 amp which is a lot of power drain ,some propriety belt sticky sprays will cure it for a while ,arrow chemicals used to make one 30 yrs ago in the Uk which was very good but aqs to sorting this one out then short of renewing the spring loaded tensioner their is not a lot you can other than to start engine and dont rev it let it idle for a minute and this will recharge the battery so stopping the strain on the belt and the screeching at the same time

Is it possible to adjust the tension of my fan belt?


depending on the engine thats in you vehicle, all newer gm engines run an automatic tensioner. . the tensioners bind up with age and the belt will start to slip and make noise. if you change tyhe tensioner, change the belt at the same time... it doesnt take long for a slipping belt to get a "glaze" on it, and then your truck with its new tensioner might still squeak.

The serpentine belt squeaks. I'll check the belt & the tensioner. Anything else I should look for?


The Corolla's has a hydralic belt tensioner. When you replace the serp belt you need to buy a factory Toyota belt. The reason why the after-market reproduction belts are slightly long or short. This
will either cause a squeaky belt problem or a over adjusted belt condition which could burn up one of your engines accessories (p/s pump, alt. etc.)

Idler pulley replacement?


Once the belt is removed, the center bolt from the idler pulley should unscrew normally with a socket. The replacement pulley bolts back in with the same bolt, then just put the belt back on. The bolt should be very snug, but do not overtighten ir it will shorten the life of the idler. As tight as you can get it with one hand using a typical 3/8" ratchet should be adequate. There should be a belt routing diagram on a sticker under the hood. Belt removal and reinstallation is achieved by using a 3/8" drive ratchet or breaker bar to engage the square hole on the spring loaded tensioner arm and flex it clockwise on most engines. On other GM engines, placing a socket on the center bolt of the tensioner pulley and turning clockwise will flex the tensioner to loosen the belt. When you have the belt off, check all pulleys for smooth rotation and listen for squeaking. If any of them bind or squeak, they should be repaired/replaced as well. Installing a new belt is also a good idea when replacing the idler.

96 Ford Explorer squeaks when steering. Power


Possibly dirt in the grooves of the belt. remove the belt and clean the grooves with a wire brush. If you get a lot of dirt and powder out of it clean it good and reinstall. Might work. did for mem on my 03 Sebring.

AC Belt squeaks on my 2002 Lexus es300


When belts squeak it's either from dryness wear or tension / tightness / looseness affecting alignment.

Check for tightness and you can spray with belt dressing and try some WD40 on the compressor pulley.

If none of that doesn't stop it it very well could be the clutch or pulley is stiff from non use and could need replacing soon.

Dimming lights and slowing wipers ????


The squeak noise is probably a belt. Most likely it has moisture underneath it that evaporates once the engine gets warm. Its a good idea to change your belts every couple of years, just make sure you use a Gates brand belt. Mazda engines are particular about their belts. May be a good idea to change the timing belt too, about every 60,000 miles.
