Question about 2007 Cadillac DTS Sedan

1 Answer

A few hours ago I turned the ignition key to the position that allowed me to remove a CD from the radio, and I must have left the key in that position. Now it seems like the battery has drained down to the point that the horn doesn't work, and I can't remove the key from the column. Any ideas of how to remove the key? FYI- the car is in park and it won't start. Car is a 2007 Cadillac DTS. Thanks

That is strange that the key will not release -- there is nothing electrical about the key being held in place. I would recommend trying to move the steering wheel back and forth as you try and turn the key/ignition back and forth and then back to off and try and get the key out then. if this does not do it then it sounds like something has gone wrong in the ignition switch itself and I would recommend jump starting the car and driving it down to your local automotive locksmith and see if they can get the key to release. the ignition might need to be re-pined and a locksmith can do this for you and get your key working good again.
hope it all works out,

Key locks in the ignition in the ACC position. can't take key out

when you turn key to acc pos that is telling the ignition to go into a accessory mode which runs the radio, wipers etc... but it doesnt allow the ignition circuit to run, and the key in most vehicles will not be able to come out, this is a security protection so that you do not leave accessories on that will drain the battery. The ignition key should only be able to be removed in the OFF position.

SAfter shutting off the truck, radio and fan continue to run. Also, went out the other morning and found radio running without keys in the ignition. I tried replacing the relay switch in the fuse box. ...

Check and make sure the ignition switch is not worn out and allowing you to remove the key when the switch is turned backwards in teh accessory position. once the key is removed and the radio is staying on, turn the ignition without the key in it, both directions and see if it shuts off, if it does, menas work cylinder or key.

Is your car named Christine?

Either the radio is wired wrong - (is it possible it is wired directly to power?) or your ignition switch is allowing you to remove the key from the standby position.

Sometimes will not shift out of Park

I have the same issue. As far as I can tell it's probably the ignition switch and or/ ignition lock assembly. Parts only you can find the switch for $65. If you replace the ignition lock assembly you should have it ordered for your car by VIN # to get a matching key.

My Theft Lock is stuck on and now it is in InOP stage

I suffered the same problem. Turn your ignition key to the ON position for 1 hour. This will reset the double lock feature on the radio to prevent theft. Once you leave your ignition key on for 1 hour, turn the key to the off position. Remove the key. Then turn the ignition key back to the ON position. You should then see "LOC" instead of "InOp". Then try the steps to enter your code again. Three incorrect tries will enable the double lock feature again, and you will have to repeat these steps to reset it.
